As mentioned by a previous poster (ambrinker) the cable does indeed have a problem with new LCD monitors. However, I've given the cable a full 5 because it's not the cable's fault.
The cable in itself is awesome. Comes with the cable a male-male VGA converter and an Audio RCA extension / Audio jack cable. With ...[更多...]
It works but quality is poor I connected the cable with 3 LCD monitor.
And I got heavy ghost image in edge of screen and around text.
It works but quality is poor...QQ
Fortunately, It works with my monitor I heard stories about this cable not working as advertised, but after some mildly annoying adjustment, it worked fine with mo 19" LCD monitor.
It looks like some small monitors(notably 17~19" range and 21"+ low-budget models) have trouble displaying 1080i or(and) 1080p mode, simply because those monitors can't support that resolution.
It happened to my monitor, causing trouble such as severely warped display or annoyingly flashing display. The solution is to select only 480p and 720p mode, leaving 1080i and 1080p unchecked, since the display mode will always try to set the resolution to the hightest setting among the selection.
(It works find in 720p, although some portion of the screen remain unused, probably becuase of the vertical/horizontal ratio difference.
It's not the cable's fault, so I think the product works OK.
I dinged 1 star purely as the result of the same component in XBOX360 system.
PS3 version requires you to have 2 displays(or swapping cable repeatedly) since you have to manually change the AV mode on screen.
Meanwhile, XBOX360 VGA cable is much easier to find and buy(well, at least that's the case here in Korea...), and the XBOX360 VGA cable has much more simple setup procedure - you just plug it and turn the console on... no adjustment needed)
so, in terms of availability and user-friendliness, the winner goes to XBOX360 VGA cable.... thus 4 stars for PS3 VGA cable
(although I really thank the existance of PS3 VGA cable... otherwise I would have ended up playing PS3 with S-VHS + TV-card + DScaler setting.)
Not as good as the original Microsoft VGA cable. I used this cable for sometime now. While initially I thought it was awesome, I soon started noticing a slight ghosting of the display, which is usually caused by inferior VGA Cables.
Once I spent a premium and switched to the original Microsoft cable, the improvement in quality and sharpness was a major leap. I would suggest going for that one instead.
Oh and as a tip if you find the image quality a bit dark and bland, its because your monitor is configured for short distance viewing. Adjust the settings a bit and the image quality would be as good as it gets. :)
