a steep price to pay for an expansion pack. halo is made for multiplayer and this is just halo 3. with extra maps. which are now available to halo3 owners. worthless.
A great twist on single player, aging multiplayer though... The singleplayer experience in ODST is an extremely enjoyable one, with the reduced heealth system and the lack of security you get from not being a spartan quite refreshing for a series that has been mildly stagnant over its past iterations.
The multiplayer on the other hand is still that same old halo 3 mechanics, and the new additional maps, whilst interesting, do not have the prevalence to make finding a game with a good connection viable, so you are simply stuck with playing the same overplayed maps from halo 3.
Firefight, the other new addition to ODST is, whilst fun, not as focused an experience or addictive as a game dedicated to this type of play, such as left 4 dead.
ODST's singleplayer greatly makes up for the flaws experienced in the now aging multiplayer of Halo.
Well worth the price of admission. Halo has always been built on the 30 seconds of fun ideal and ODST seems to be no exception. The battles, weapons and enemies are familiar which some may see as stagnant. In my opinion though, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The pistol makes a welcome return to this somewhat darker grittier exploration into the Halo universe. The multi player stand alone disc is a great addition for those who did not purchase any of the DLC on release.
An interesting reboot. You probably know by now whether you like Halo or not, but this game may yet turn some heads. The experimental campaign structure coupled with the new Firefight mode makes Halo the pinnacle of the franchise's storied single and multiplayer modes.
