Best classic-style RPG EVER
The "Tales of" series has always been known for it's good story telling and interesting style.
This game is no exception: it took everything that made the tales series good and perfected it.
The story is good, the narrative is a lot better, the stages are all colorful and beautiful, interesting game play... there is a lot of fun to play with

Awesome addition to your tales collection
This game is magnificent. The artwork in every cut-scene is amazingly well-drawn. The gameplay was derived from abyss, but the saying 'you cannot add to perfection' fails magnificently on this game because they did manage to improve on the gameplay which I previously thought would be impossible. Also, for people who are saying that this game is 'too easy' well that's because you're a pussy who decided to play the easy mode. What? killing a monster with 100x your normal HP is too hard for you? Seriously, when you play this game, go on hard mode. Normal mode is for punks who live with their mothers and easy mode is for RPG newbies who can't tell attack from defend.
Also, this is a JRPG people! If you come here and play this and expect different elements from JRPgs then you're probably American (if you know what I mean). the characters here are well portrayed. Okay I have to say some of them are cliche, but being cliche does not mean having 'no character'. Each and everyone of the character has a story which you must unlock throughout the game and probably even in different playthroughs. Remember 100% story completion is only the beginning this game is not for lazy faggots who are used to normal boring linear crap some game developers present. I give this a five out of five. Plot is a little cliche, but it doesn't ruin the feel of the game. Unless you're one of those hamburger eating people who can't play the game for what it is, then this game is for you.

What a boring story and game
this RPG is for little kids or for people who just can not get enough of Japanese style "animation."
Yet another JRPG the offers no challenge and requires no effort, strategy, or thought.
the story is boring and juvenile. Saturday Morning Cartoon boring. The characters... been there. done that. Stereotypical. The naive princess. The noble but kind rebel. The older more mature rouge. The selfrighteous knight. The clueless little kid. Really??? we have seen these characters 100000 times in games, mostly JRPGs.
If you want a game where you know EXACTLY what you will be getting then by all means pick this one up.

Improvements all around to a great game
Compared the the NA version of the Xbox game, I can't think of a single category that this version loses in. The following are memorable additions to the PS3 version. Below that you will find my opinion about the game.
The most obvious additions are Patty and playable Flynn. Besides just adding more skits, dialogue is also edited to give those two lines. Patty gets her own story line (if you played the original game and don't understand much Japanese, this is likely to be the only part of the game you will have difficulty figuring out) that mixes in nicely. Patty is unbelievably fun to fight as. She uses a lot of probability-based attacks, like ones that do more damage based on how good a hand of cards is, A high/low card game tech where you keep going, doing progressively more damage as you guess correctly, and a random spell casting techs. She has 4 forms with their own benefits and drawbacks which can change her artes, and has a fun Hi-Ougi which randomly summons one of 12 'friends', with probability of certain outcomes based on her form.
All character have new costumes, even Repede gets them this time: The beach costume series, and the cameo costume series, and the snow race series (which has some evening wear and some holidays costumes in it). Wearing the cameo costumes will enable the character to use a special altered art. Attachments can be equipped on multiple characters, even at the same time, and there are way more than there were before. A lady in Dahngrest will combine attachments and some costume titles so you can have some pretty varied outfits. Note that attachments can not be put on at the same time as DLC costumes. And there are lots of DLC costumes, which you can buy if you get a Japanese playstation account and a gift card which you can get on this website. Most are 300 yen each.
Beating the Coliseum's 200-Man fight gives the character the skill Stand Alone that allows you to fight with only one character in any battle, or any combo of characters with that skill. The new Team Battle in the Coliseum unlocks a costume for Karol. Clint is added to the both solo and team Coliseum fights after you get his letter of challenge, and he is the only enemy in the game able to fatal strike the player characters. The final level of the team fight, which is unlocked by beating the new EX dungeon, is not only a lot of fun, but awards the Limits Octet which allows you to store 8 levels of overlimit(you can still only use 4 at a time). Another awesome item affecting battles is the craftable Arts Ball which allows you to have 16 artes at hand rather than only 8 by including the L1 button and this makes it much easier to have all your favourite artes all equipped. All characters (except Patty) have 2 Hi-Ougis, and Yuri and Flynn have a special duo Hi-Ougi.
There are a few extra places to visit (there's a waterway under Dahngrest, a cave on the central southern continent, a Volcano you can access from the Aer Krenes, and the second EX dungeon which has a super fun last boss). There are a few new Recipes. All character have a few new artes. There are two more Giganto Monsters. The first EX dungeon has an extra level added in at the end of each route to include those Giganto guys, the boss of Patty's story, and Clint. There are numerous new skills for each character.
Now for my opinion:
This game is a lot of fun. I don't regret buying it even though I owned the Xbox version. I even acquired a PS3 to play this. In the end, the main story remains mostly unchanged, and this feels like a spiced up version of the Xbox version. In comparison, the Xbox version feels somewhat incomplete. Stand alone, both of them are 5 star games, no question about it. If you're a crazy fan, I would recommend buying it even if you already have the xbox version, whether you know much Japanese or not. I did buy this, and my pathetic Japanese skills were enough for me to make my way to a platinum trophy (after 300 hours. We are talking crazy fan). If you just liked the original game and aren't quite so crazy-insane about it or don't have any Japanese at all, it really is the bonus dungeons and spirit of completion-ism that makes this game more fun than the Xbox version so I would say don't go for it. I hear there is a translated script, but its not that fun to keep referring to a script. If you understand Japanese and are thinking about buying this, definitely go for the PS3 version. I haven't played many JRPGs out of the tales series, but this stands out as an amazing play among all of them. I hope that wall of text helps someone decide.
