Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of Left 4 Dead™ casts four "Survivors" in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying "Boss Infected" mutants.
The Survivor Co-op Game Mode is played out across four sprawling campaigns, set in urban and rural environments. The team of four Survivors may be comprised of one to four human players, allowing for single player and multiplayer co-op games.
The next-generation A.I. technology of all non-player Survivor and zombie characters is a pool of systems used to procedurally generate a unique experience by monitoring the players' experiences and tailoring the pacing and difficulty of action for each game. This makes for a different experience each time the game is played.
In the Left 4 Dead Vs. Mode, play as a Survivor or as one of four types of "Boss Infected." Each of the "Boss Infected" possesses an exceptional mutant ability -- such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas -- instead of traditional firearms.

Best coop game It is one of the best cooperative multiplayer games out there, if no the best.
It can seem a simple, but it is very polished, with a lot of details and a fantastic gameplay.
Essential for everyone that loves cooperative games.
great co-op! This game is superbly fun to play with friends! Get it as you definitely wont regret!

Zombie Apocalypse. Enough said!! Fantastic, intense, adrenaline fueled action. This game is a shooter. Pure and simple. Get from A to B without dying, and kill as many of the ravenous hord as possible.
The thing that sets this apart is the AI "director" It keeps every playthrough different and matches the challenge to your abilities as you play.
Playing the game by yourself is surprisingly fun. Your AI controlled teamates do a good job of taking out the attacking zombies, shouting out when they find weapons and ammo, and more importantly, coming to your resue when you most need it.
But this game is amazing when played with friends. Co-Op play, either split screen or online, ups the challenge/difficulty and brings a more tactical feel to the action. As you really do have to work together to survive through to the next safe house. Lone-wolfing it will get you dead fast and make it more difficult for the team as a whole. Nothing brings friends together like gunning down a marauding pack of ravenous zombies.
