Little Disappointed I own Virtua Tennis 3, and bought this hoping the graphics and gameplay will improve, well I was disappointed. Mini-games should be repeatable with out exiting and reloading. Character CGI between matches are still ugly. I guess the only good addition is the online play.
VT3 with trophies and online mode I bought the game thinking it would have lots of improvements and a solid online mode. It ends up almost the same as VT3 and the online mode suffers with constants lags...
If you like VT you should consider buying, but if you already own VT3 or if you don't mind playing without online or trophies, VT3 is as good as 2009
Virtun Tennis 2009 Substantially improved since Virtua Tennis 3 in every aspect. This game had me sitting on the edge of the seat for hours on end playing with mates. It's easy to get hooked and hard to put the controller down. Brilliant graphics, awesome gameplay and overall an excellent representation of a sport game on a console.

So few improvements... If you already have VT3, you can pass this one (execpt for PS3 users, because VT2009 have an Online Mode !).
It's disappointing, but still enjoyable.

What a joke ! Awfull looking, poor arcade gameplay, the most annoying career, i've ever met in a tennis game, and well, everything is unreallistic. What the hell ? We are waiting for a tennis game, this one is worst than it's older version (VT03), and so far from top spin 2 or 3, wich are far from perfection too, but gives a taste of tennis sensation. My only mistake is having bought it "import" then, hard to resell in my country. Poor of me.

No title I prefer VT3...this is just a little updated and dissapointed in a few ways of the game.
Average.. Virtua Tennis 2009 is just an average game with good graphics. This tennis game is still stuck in a time warp as it hasn't managed to lose its arcade type game play which is entertaining at first but then gets boring after a couple of days. The online play is pathetic as it is riddled by bugs which causes the game to lag leading to the impression that the opponent is somehow cheating. This game has no improvements barring the fact that the developer has added a few more players and a couple of more arcade games.
Disappointed... I don't think this is a good tennis game. It's almost the same with Virtua Tennis 3, no improvement at all. No unforced errors, unreal and stiff actions, strange voice of the umpire...
DISAPPOINTED!!!
