DA:O is BioWares return to its roots a dark heroic fantasy game that combines original storytelling techniques with classic roleplaying.
Origin stories are a major feature of the Dragon Age experience. You choose your origin, and from that starting point, your story begins. You play through your characters early days, defining his or her background and motivation and begin to learn more about the world of Ferelden from your own distinct perspective. Your choice of origin defines how you will view the world and how it views you. Choose a sneaky, disrespected commoner and you will play a story that focuses around subtle skills and careful wordplay. Choose a noble origin and the world will be much more positive and helpful, but those jealous of your status will not be afraid to take what you have, violently if necessary. More will be revealed on these stories soon
In Dragon Age, your choices change the world and affect the people around you. Certain situations, storylines, and conversation options will change drastically depending on your origin and your motivations.
Excellent Another brilliant effort by Bioware. Classic RPG stylings for a new age. Intricate and branching storylines mixed with intense, but tactical combat with a dash of retro Fantasy RPG charm. Definite must buy for any RPG Fan.
Engrossing I've been playing RPGs since the days of the Amiga and this is easily the most compelling and involving I've had the pleasure to encounter. Very different to Oblivion (another brilliant game), DAO is much more structured and linear. Normally, I'd hate this, but in the case of DAO, it's a tiny price for a fantastic narrative. And at no point did I feel i was being forced to do anything - there's heaps of game-changing choices to be made, from character builds to game style to moral questions. The tactical pause in battle gives combat a cerebral element and you'll often find yourself thinking of new ways to bring down that demon - long after you've switched off for the night. Unreservedly recommended for the PC RPGer.
Fantastic game It is really the best RPG, even best game, I have played since the new century began. Although the plot is kinda old-fashioned, but the presentation is fantastic, bringing a feeling that you are really part of the world.
Really awesome indeed
