Tales Series strikes another success in my books. As a long time player of the Tales series, I must say I was overall very happy with this game. I don't recommend it to anyone who gets bored easilty, I don't recommend it to anyone who does not like J-RPGs, and I definitely don't recommend it if you don't know Japanese.
The storyline is, whist not the most enthralling story ever, constantly active and easy to follow. What makes the storyline so good is the characters and skits that keep adding small things and some comic relief throughout the game. Each character has a personality you come to love... or hate.
The graphics are not incredible, but they certainly keep a strong "anime" feel about them, which I really enjoyed. The camera is set and rotates very nicely. Graphically there are a few glitches, sometimes. The animation sequences are top quality and a wonder to watch, particullarly for anime fans.
The music is perhaps less upbeat than previous Tales games but very enjoyable. Voice acting is bliss, and personally the voice actors were possibly my biggest joy in this series, they really all sounded great. Sound effects are terrible, however... occasionally in cutscenes you would see an explosion and not even hear it, swords would clash and the sound would be out of time, etc. which was a bit dissapointing.
Either way, if you are a fan of the series or just a fan of J-RPGs in general, I recommed it with no restaint! Get it now!
Better than the 360 version The PS3 version has 2 new playable characters introduced and a little bit more content was added. A must have for any Tales series fan.
about time! finally got around get this game a few weeks ago, and its a tons better then then Xbox 360 version.
as soon as I herd they were making it for the PS3, I decided to sell my Xbox 360 version and wait for a release date. Im glad I did. the graphics for one are so much better on the PS3, and the new character Patty is a blast to play with. Personally, I think this game is truly a game any RPG fan with a PS3 should own.
