A cool new way to use your Nintendo DS. Enjoy quick, easy and portable access to the web via your Nintendo DS!
You can access the web via your home wireless internet connection or any hot-spot access point.
Great for email I had my brother pick this up for me when he was in England. I love being able to check my email and other items off the internet on my DS. Yes a little slow, but so is the internet on some cell phones too. Screen is good size.
THIS GAME RULES EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN JAPAN, IT CAN STILL GO TO SUCH WEBSITES. I LOVE THIS GAME SOOOOO MUCH! I TAKE IT ANYWHERE I GO. I RECOMEND THIS TO ANYONE WHO LOOOVES SURFING THE WEB AND SENDING EMAILS.
a good toy it works well when you just check email or chate in bbs. but it acts so slow when you view wedsites with lots of images. sometimes it gets stuck when you open a website with java or flash.
it only supports japanese, english and some format of traditional chinese. the hand writting system is the best part of the browser! you will not regret to buy it if you wanna use kana or traditional chinese on your ds!
Good but.... ... mostly everything is in Japanese, which is to be expected. It's not bad though! I have the internet on my PSP and the DS is not bad compared to it, it just takes a little longer to load pages, but that's no problem.
Perfect. Now, don't buy this game expecting it to be as fast and compatible as a PC. I'm going to tell you right now, its not. Now if you buy it realizing theres no flash, no java, its slow, but it works great, you're going to love this product. The package comes with a RAM insert to go into your GBA slot, because the browser takes more power than the Ds has. For a handheld browser, it goes great. Pages can load anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, and even faster when images are turned off, so you're going to have to be patient with the browser. But it works, and it does its job well. I highly recommend it to any DS owner.
No title I think that since more wi-fi spots are becoming available this browser would be handy to have in your pocket.(also a psp or pda). For teenage gamers who cant afford a laptop or something fancy like that, this is very useful to have if you wanted to check your e-mail or something that you normaly do. The only flaw I find is the lack of sound, video, and music.
Cool This is a cool toy, but I don't really use it for anything. Loading and rendering times are slower than a PC, and considering the difference between jumping on my always on PC and waiting for the DS Browser to load (and finally getting the site I want after many typos trying to enter the URL), I really don't see how this is anything more than just a cool toy. This won't change the way you surf.
nice usless nessecarry. i own this great internet addon for nds lite but i,ve steel not try it ou but ,m excited, despites it does ,nt support flash, movie, sound speach and up/donwloudoption cuzz it would be very original and ideal cuzz i believe that the nds is more than power full enough to handle that, but the problem is i think the hardware have to convert ennything in realtime to the ds hardware and so it cost the ds much horse power to do and so than the load times will be slow. despite with the included external ram card for (wich i dit trough it was a memo expension card for storing data) but no it just makes run internet just faster nor it,s steel slow compared with a pc.and maybe that,s the reason ehy operah have removed manny thing,s like flaschetc,,cuzz if it was possible,i would like to speech my voice trough live chat via the headset or builtin mic ,or i would like to play pacman or donwlouding, watching videos, musics etc, and another thing is nintendo want to make bissnezz so that,s the reason why they never dit include a builltin antenne ,so ether you need a wifi usb stickand powerfull pc,or go to a hotspot service outside but steel your stack with limetid lot of range however, you can use a laptop for if you wanne perse goinmg ennywhere in the world but it,s very unpractic and it,s just worthless useless your brother need the laptop for doing bissneess will you use your nds for doing bissnizz on ebay.
and also it,s not upgradeble like the psp wich also more funktions unfortunetely, so in my opinion it,s only worth for imergency situations and or it,s a must have nds addon to grab but not more
Handy enough, with a few quirks I bought the DS version so I can use it either on my classic DS or my DS Lite.
If you're used to browsing in hi-speed internet in your state-of-the-art PC, you'd be disappointed, as the DS hardware wasn't designed for this level of wi-fi activity.
However, if you plan on using this for checking webmail or taking a peek at the online forums you frequent, it's handy enough.
I especially use my copy for reading text-only e-books. I load the e-book from my wireless network at home, switch to single-screen mode, close my DS, and read it while on the bus. My siblings find it useful for reading fan-fiction while somebody else is working on the PC.
As I mentioned earlier, the DS wasn't especially designed for browsing, so expect a few quirks. My DS Lite froze up when I was browsing continuously for more than 4 hours. There's a possibility that it was caused by the strap getting caught in the cartridge, though.
I recommend this for casual browsing. Not to be substituted for a PC.
An Excellent Browser for Casual Browsing! While a few image intensive sites take a few minutes to load or, even run out of memory (only came across one site so far), the browser works smoothly for everything else! All the major sites and blogs display fine in 2 screen mode including this one and I've even ordered online with it.
Great when you're away on long journeys because you don't have to carry as much luggage about with you. You can't save files, view Flash or anything else that requires plugins but it works fine for checking e-mail sites, posting in forums or just looking up information.
Japanese won't really be a barrier for you apart from maybe the settings page but you can find translations just about anywhere.
Bare in mind that the encoding support for Asian languages is very poor. While it does have unicode support it does not work with sites in Traditional/Simplified Chinese or Korean. Sites written in those languages crash the browser.
Despite those limitations, it's a nice little browser to use!
Hooray DS Browser. Well I personally don't care if it downloads pages slow or anything like that. This is a fantabulous new toy for all DS fans. The only problem in my mind is the fact you need a Wi-fi connection. Then again there are a ton of hotspots out there. I think the is a great product.
Great and Handy Don't compare it with a PC. It'll never happen. But if you need a quick surf to the WWW, this one's for you. The trick is know its limitations to be able to use its potential. I won't expect a lot of changes from the European version.
I Love it! I just got it yesterday & I love it :) Its very easy to type & Navigate! Only downside is the loading times. but that does'nt stop the fun that I've had with it :)
Neat! Great for roadtrip! Work fine of mapquest and map.yahoo! :D It's good if you don't have any pda. I love to use it to check what movies are showing thru fandango~ very neat!
I Love It. I must say I really love this little web browser. Sure, it does not support Flash or Java, but it is still a really handy device to have with you. And the Japanese is but a little barrier. You can easily navigate throught the web with this thing, and I strongly reccomend it. Sure, the load times take maybe a minute, but it is still as fantastic as ever!
First of all load times on this thing are terrible, you are looking at minutes, not seconds, to load even simple sites up. You can speed things up a little by disabling images which means you will only get the text of sites.
The interface is easy to use, and you can set it to input Japanese or English. Using bookmarks and URLs are also pretty easy. Just type and go. The touch screen also allows for handwriting recognition but it can be off sometimes, a keyboard interface is there also just in case.
Dual screen mode shows a scaled down version of the page on the bottom and the top screen shows an enlarged version of what you are pointing to. You can also switch the two screens, and have the scaled version be on top while using your pointer to drag the screen on the bottom.
Gmail and Yahoo work fine on it but AIM express is not compatible.
If you want something a little easier to carry around than a laptop, maybe this is for you. But I think it lacks value for money myself.
the coolest thing to ever happen to nintendo ds!!!!!!!!! this browser is more amazing than i ever thought it wouldbe!!! the japanese is almost unoticable cuz it runs on symbols and you can permanently set the text to english... the only issue is that there are some websites that are available in japaese such as this one where you have to log in to make it englih... but wifi navigates just the samein english as japanese so thats no biggie... the writing is awesome, in fact i just so happen to be typing this review on my ds right now... i ttally got this thing down!!! definate 5!!!
Is this really true? Can you do everything on here as you can on a pc? I find this hard to believe and really don't want to waste money on it if it doesn't work. Anyone who has it PLEASE tell me more???? Thanks so much!!!
Looks good -Well I am also tempted to get this but is everything written in Japanese?
Answer: Menu is japanese
-If so, when will it come out in the U.S.?
Answer: No release day yet
Excellent I received it yesterday.Web pages take 10-50 secs to load-it depends on your connection,it's easy to navigate through the menues,i'm very happy with it.
Question Can you change the browsers settings to western letters like you could with the DS system? Judging from the pictures you can write in western letters but what about the menus and settings?
Answer: Websites can be shown in western language, menus cannot be changed to english
Can it be set to English language? I'm tempted to buy this now, doesn't sound like it is coming to the USA for several months. But my Japanese is minimal -- would I have problems browsing?
And I understand it comes with a memory cartridge that plugs into the GBA slot - how large is that, is it expandable (via CF or SF)?
Not too bad.. - Pages with complex layouts are what loads slowly.
- Turn off the layout assist modes ie. Single column and fit to screen width modes and it'll be faster.
- Images are resized internally rendering webcomics to be unreadable unfortunately.
Great work Nintendo and Opera. It works just fine on any DS Lite, because DS isn't region protected. Just keep in mind that the menus are in Japanese. I got it working, just click away on what seems logical. (^_^)
Responce to: Not a rating, & My rating! I'm not quite sure,I think so but not quite sure,go ask sommone on Nintendo's Official site http://forums.nintendo.com
I think its great I don't have it yet but I give it a 4/5 only bad thing about it is that it does'nt play youtube videos..
about time... I'm elated to finally be browsing the net on my DS, just as I had been wanting to do for so long now. Opera did a fine job with it, considering the technical limitations of the DS. Images are crystal clear and load fairly quickly for the most part. Email works great. Even e-messenger works for AIM. Yes, some pages load fairly slow, but that's to be expected. I consider this a minor setback considering the overall value of the browser itself.
It looks like I'll be taking this with me wherever I go!
Good, but not as great as I had hoped. Well, the browser's finally out and I've had the chance to see it in action. There are a lot of really cool functions that I'm looking forward to. Sadly, the browser is very slow. Webpages take an average of just over a full minute to render. CNN takes a full 3 minutes, which is very poor.
not a rating... ...but a question.... anyone know if this will run ok in the uk on a uk ds lite?
thanks, pixelpidgeon :')
Answer: Yes is runs anywhere in any DS Lite.
