The start of something great Tobal was a very orginal 3d fighter that offered something new to fans as far as movement. However it lacked alot of depth as far as character moves where concerned. The main reason this sold so well was because it game with a demo disk of FinalFantasy 7. However this game features an awesome dugeon mode. This dugeon mode carried over to the great Tobal 2 and Ehrgeiz.
YuuFuu says... A pretty good beat 'em up. Immediately noticeable is it's uniqueness of running in hi-res mode, making the graphics very crisp and giving an excellent framerate - however, this means the characters are more gourard shaded rather than having detailed textures.
The characters and moves are pretty standard fare, not quite up to par with Tekken but certainly alot more accessible than core games such as the Virtua Fighter series. The fight system is pretty basic, easy to pick up but there isn't too much to master; if you're keen on just having a quick game with your mates then this is a good choice, but stay away if you enjoy the technical skill of games such as Tekken.
An interesting feature is an RPG-esque mode, whereby you roam a dungeon, picking up various items to replenish your health as you fight all sorts of creatures. It's quite big, and certainly helps break up the tedium of standard fighting game content.
All in all, not a bad game, and certainly good value for this price!
