description
Connect your favorite videogame console (or any other video source) to your monitor with the Magic VGA Box. The Magic VGA Box accepts video signals from any video source through the standard AV port (RCA IN) and the S-Video port. It also has a pass through port for your VGA cable (VGA in & VGA out), so that you dont need to unplug your PC whenever you are about to use it. This product is recommended for users of TFT monitors, as it supports higher output resolutions.

No title at first when i connect my pal nes straight to the vga box converter the images looks (randomly) horizontal or diagonal strappy pixelated also happens with the pal snes and pal n64 (except the ngc wich looks great) BUT once i connect the nes, snes and n64 via the dvd recorder to the vga box,the images looks allway,s great only on a 640x480 monitor, cuzz on a hicher res monitor(except the ngc) the images looks pixelated !

the idea behind was awesome. i dit have tested this vga box converter with the nintendo gamecube and nintendo ultra 64.
the images looks great.
however once using my pal nes and snes, the picture first appears but than it freezes and gets blanked.
but i like the settings in the menu pretty awesome cuzz it has alot of features, but whatever i was searching i can,t find the sport mode feature.
cuzz i know the sport mode will improve the colors dramatically.

Rocks I have this unit and the quality is veru usuable. Cannot say its perfect but that depends on your point of view. Funny thing I find is the noise in the background picture is the same when I plug a TV into it. So there is a good reason to buy quality plugs.
Its plugged into the PSX1, DC, Xbox, and a laserdisc player, with VGA pass though for the PC.
I give it 5 stars as I have tried Ł200 units with less success and its a real good deal.

It's ok I got mine yesterday. I was very excited, but was let down by the quality. It looked worse on my monitor then it does on my TV. I have S-Video cable as well for PS2 and XBOX360. XBOX360 flat out was horrible picture. PS2 only works on 640x480 mode for me. The only thing it could be is my monitor. I messed with settings on my monitor and XGA box and no luck.
Play-asia's service and delivery was EXCELLENT! I will order from play-asia again. It's not their fault it's not working like I had hoped :(.

Good but not great for Pal Gamecube It works great for 50Hz Pal games and NTSC games but it is really bad for 60Hz Pal games. The color are distorted and they are impossible to fix with the menu. Recomended for NTSC Gamecube only.

Not the best choice I was mostly getting this for use with my HD tv which has a VGA in. The end results equal a picture that is worse than using the orginal cord by itself. It doesnt have component in which I must have over looked when order. RCA upscaling is a joke as its like thating a extremly crappy picture and making it ten times bigger. Where as component is clear enough to polish.
I would recomend going with something with componet in.

great... for a while i bought this box about a year and a half ago and it was great until now. one of the fuses blew on the inside, so it doesnt work anymore. i didnt een use it that much, but up until it broke, it was awesome. i used a GC, PS2, PS1 and a DVD player with it, and they all worked fine. it also works great if you want to record game soundtracks with MP3 quality directly onto your computer. just connect the 2 way audio cable to the audio out hole in the box and the microphone hole in your computer, and hit record on your computer.

Works great! Just got it today, opened the box and plug it into my PC and it works great! The pciture is good but the sound is great.
Thank you to the playasia's guy who put a free candy bag in my box and the shipping was very fast, it only took 1 day to my NJ state.

Works but...... This pretty much works as advertised and i am happy with my purchase overall.
I have had a bit of trouble configuring the box for optimal color and video quality, and i also have noticed that the resolution settings may be mislabeled, the interface is the most noticable
change when switching resolutions, and the 1024 setting seems to be 640, the 800x600 seems like 1024, and the 640 seems like 800x600, wierd, but nothing more than a minor problem.
it works, and other than the crappy default settings, and the hard to find optimal setting, its not a bad product at all.
I am satisfied with my purchase.

Good, but not great. I'm use it with my nsct ps2. When I play pal games on it, the colour goes green or purple. well, the picture quality is good when i set it on 60 hz and 1024*768. but when i set it on 75hz, the screen goes funny like the image is a little bit fuzzy.
Generally, it is a good vga box. If u don't play import games on your console. I would recommand to use Xga box. Because i have both and compare them a bit. Still think Xga box is easy to use.

EY GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME i just got this vga box today after about 1 week and a half. it was pretty fast since im all the way across the ocean from hk. the quality is great if you set it up with a s-video cable you can also get here. the box is pretty small, like about 5 inches. i thought it would be bigger. the resolution i get with ntsc is 800*600. havnt tried pal yet. anyways if you dont have a tv anymore to play your consoles of players then just get this if you have a comp moniter avalible. im using a 19" samsung moniter. it works great, since you can hook nice speakers to it, maybe surround sound, havnt tried that yet. so if youre looking for a tv avg converter , heres your buy.

Good, but not great with a TFT Bought one of these to use with a TFT (because it's one of the few VGA boxes that will support a TFT even when the PS2 is running in UK PAL 50Hz mode. Which it does, but it's OK, not great.
Obviously the quality is going to suffer a bit by being converted from PAL resolution to 800x600 by this box and then again to the native 1280x1024 by the monitor. After fiddling with the contrast, resolution, frequency and colour controls I found a balance that was actually pretty good if you don't expect a miracle.
The biggest issue I have is that the quality of the signal is very poor. I get some flickering and screen artifacts. Also, the resolutions aren't very well defined - they don't stretch to the edge of the screen and they don't seem too stable. A decent CRT is less fussy than a TFT and might be able to cope better. If you get the settings right you can minimise this distortion, but YMMV.
As a final note, the PC pass-through is very good. I noticed no loss of quality when I plugged my PC into the box and you can swap between PC and PS2 at the touch of a button.

PAL Compatible Magic Box After learning that not all VGA boxes were compatible with Australia's PAL XBOX format I was mildly concerned that this would be the case with 'Magic VGA Box'.
Suffice to say, it is compatible with this format. True, the image would probably be improved w/ a hardware mod, but it is very stable and looks clean if you sit back from the monitor.
I had no probs running it out of my 17" CRT (5 years old); interestingly, the output was clearer at 800*600 than at 1024*768. The MVB is a cute integrative unit of sound and video, both from the console and the PC - this means that while it always has to be on if either system is run, cables don't have to be changed when switching b/w them (you can do with with the MVB). The menu on the MVB is clear and easy to work with.
True, there is no sound control for headphones, but the sound level was nevertheless adequate - if anything, the console itself should furnish this sound-control support (as, of course, does the PC).
A good product. A superb service (compliments Play Asia) too. They both rock! ;)

This is what I'm talking about serious VGA BOX! Pictures quality? Superb for 3D games. Just imagine by converting your interlace video output to PS2 or XBOX, etc into 1024x768 with 75Hz on your monitor.
Words really cannot descript... you just have to buy this Magic VGA Box and see it for yourself!!! I can guarrantee you'll be very very happy with it.
And you know what? the 2D games like Street Fighter or other 2D fighting games looks like arcade machine iamge on your monitor! damn good...man you know what is damn good not? DAMN GOOD!
But one thing i dont like is the Audio Jack, sound very soft very low... have to use amplified speaker to boost the sound. I really hope that the Magix VGA Box should build-in amplifier so that i could use my heatset to play my game without disturbing others people beside me.
Buy this VGA box, trust me! i ahve try others vga box before not even Multi Purppose VGA Box can match the video quality of Magic VGA Box.
Oh... lastly, this is the best online shoping store i have ever been to as the customer services here is the BEST! i give them A+++
