Greatest game ever made! This game is Amazing almost year and half later it still is Number 1.

After playing this for longer.... I rented this and ethused about it, not sure if I got a glitchy copy but I then found the two choices at the start make no difference to what route you get.....and it didn't seem possible to replay from where you had left off, without just getting flooded with unkillable enemies.
But then I've discovered that I hate tactical shooters anyway, so take that into account. They aren't like House of the Dead and Operation Wolf and the first Doom.

Gameplay-Wise biggest game after Half LIfe 2 This game rocks. It has some of the most engaging firefights seen in video game history. Basically no other weapon can compare the visceral feel of lancer rifle. Play it to believe it !

Chainsawing people is just plain fun. This game is a very gritty, dirty, viscereal and overall satisfying third person shooter with Halo3-equalling co-opness and Ai. Grab a bargain and chainsaw some locust.

Mind blowing Graphics I never played anymore then the first few minutes before getting bored of the game, but quite simply this game looks beautiful on a HD screen, it really is one of the greatest looking games ever made
You play as Marcus, you were locked away for some reason, but one of your squad mates releases you, hands you a BIG gun, and you have 2 choices on routes you want to take on the first level, one each one i died, so you at least need some skill, but needless to say, this game is next gen, and worth taking a look
I need a strategy guide book! I'm even newer to tactical shooters than I am to next-gen FPS, but I know a great game when I play one, and this is such a great game.
Even better than a guide book would be a superplay DVD.
You can't just run and gun here - you need to know what to use, and how and when, and where from.
A must have tittle One of the first games i have in 360, and i have to say that is a really great and fun game.

Stands the Test of Time when i first played through the game back in january, i wasn't blown away or anything. however, some months later, i have to say that i am thoroughly impressed with this game and i regard it as a must-own after having logged many, many hours with it. i have never had so much fun playing co-op in anything. this is the spiritual successor to contra. this game's online/system link/spli-screen co-op makes it worth every penny and then some. i have played through it on every difficulty and even sought out the cog tags. this is extremely rare for me. everything about this game is spot on. my only complaint is that there is not enough color in the game world. aside from that, you've got yourself, simply put, the most enjoyable co-op experience to be had in gaming.
No title Cool graphics, addictive gameplay (if you play in cooperative) but very boring story: you are very strong and serious guy with a big gun. You must kill 10 000 enemies using big bomb. Is it XXI century? I don't think so... But if you play in coop with your friend (split-sreen or xbox live) at hardcore or insane difficulti (DO NOT TRY EASY MODE!!!) you must use a tactic to win this war.
Of course this is one of the best games on xbox 360. So if you have this console you must buy it.

Gears of War Marcus Fenix is the new Master Chief. No, scratch that. Marcus Fenix will own Master Chief. As first, ot third, person shooters go, this violent and enjoyable new gun in town is the next generation killer game that Microsoft has been waiting for that is not called "Halo". Epic's new masterpiece puts you in the boots of disgraced soldier Fenix, who is released from prison by an old teammate to fight the Locusts, a group of underground monsters who have just about destroyed the planet Sera. While the story is far from inspiring, the new gameplay on Gears Of War puts a fresh spin on what was becoming a repititive genre.
Winning is not about charging, dodging or bunny hopping over the enemy in some lucky attempt to take him out. Instead, think more of the actual arcade shooting games where you have to take cover and aim well to make your mark. Hiding is not for the weak as without the walls, barriers and objects aplenty for use, the Locusts will easily take you down if you're dumb enough to be standing out in the open. Running around like a headless chicken, even with guns blazing, is pure suicide and Epic has masterfully delivered easy to use controls to make it easy to hide and pop up for quick salvos. And these Locusts aren't fools.
Designed with an impressive artificial intelligence, they can target you with deadly accuracy and employ teamwork in flanking your position as well. Stay in one spot for too long and your four-man team will be surrounded. Making a hook from the side while your teammates lay suppressive fire on the enemy is as important as knowing when to advance, while at the same time studying the environment to know which cover to move to. To make things more irresistible, one of the best weappons you have is a chiansaw which cuts straight to the bone. Unfortunately, it is a challenge itself to get close enough to an enemy, much less be able to actually use a chainsaw for the kill. But when you do, seeing the blood splatter and feeling the vibratiob is just too sweet a feeling not to try and risk again and again.
Several gameplay functions also add more combat realism to the game. Instead of a boring life bar, a red spot appears in the middle of your TV screen when you get hit. Multiple hits cause the red spot to bleed out, obscuring your game vision, much like in real life where you expect an injury to impede your vision and focus. Reloading under a hall of fire is also more than a simple button push. A slider located just below your ammunition display starts to move along a bar during reload. The length of the bar is the reload time but you can speed things up by stopping the slider over highlighted areas on the bar. Time it right and you can reload faster, or have your bullets deal more damage. Miss the highlight and your gun will jam, extending your reload time.
In this mini-game, the rewards balance the risk and no matter how good you think you are, your finger will always be trigger happy in the heat of battle. The overall graphics are also perfect, simply because this is a game where the animation quality of the video sequences matches those used in the game itself. Evy character looks carefully crafted with the environment richly detailed. Game music is a cross between action and horror, mixed in with the great sound effects. Throw in multiplayer, online play and three levels of difficulty and you get a must-have game that will make most gamers go, "Halo who?"
GEARS OF WAR Gears of war is highly addictive. Its the best game i"ve ever played in my life. Great graphics and most important the gameplay is awesome. Buy it and you won't regret.

I'm study abroad this year and I got a little bored, so I picked up a 360. There's some games that I can stand to play in Japanese, but for the others I'm really glad that Play-Asia is here to satisfy my English supported needs.
boo-yaa(ehem) I got the japanese version today and its in both english and japanese so it goes both ways. Now, lets hope that ms gets on to releasing some more games in japan, preferably something other than a virtual fish tank...
This game is a must-play for sure For those who own a XBOX360, Gears of War is definetly a must-play game. The game with a feature of hide-and-fire unique game play is seriously a delight, and the best of all, the Chainsaw under the assult rifle is just awesome. Plus, the graphic of the game is also satisfying, the texture of objects and facial motion is impressive. Since Epic Game also announce that there will be a second episode in the future, there could be a lot of improvment in the next episode, as the game is full of potential to be even better. I completely recommend this game and also in addition, the replay value is very high as higher level of difficulties are really challenging and more fun.

The single player campaign is an enjoyable and a memorable one. You can invite your friend via Xbox Live anytime in the single player game and team up with you as Dom.
Multiplayer is awesome, and maps can be downloaded via the Marketplace.
I would recommend this game to everyone who has an XBOX 360.

Holy crap! what an awesome game!! The game is amazing! But you already knew that!
What you need to know is that this version of the game (NTSC-J) will defo work on your UK PAL xbox 360. The game is all in english, and you even get the instructions in english (first half of the instructions booklet is in chinese, second half is in english) The only thing to ditinguish it from the UK version is that the box cover has some chinese writing on it (but who cares! you're playing the game not reading the box!!)
