The premise is simple: The player uses the touch-screen to help their character, Maxwell, acquire the star in each level by solving a series of puzzles. The twist is, in order to solve each puzzle the players use the notepad to write down objects that are used to reach the goal.

Repetetive Scriblenauts is a game that can get very frustrating very quickly. The movement system needs a lot of work, if you attempt to select an object with your stylus, especially a small object like a piece of rope, and miss it your character will instantly run to where you just selected. This is incredibly annoying when you are trying to set up an action and the character just bowls into everything.
Some words it doesn't recognise so you need to think of anything else it may be called before you can get it. Other items are not what you expect, either size wise or in what they are capable of.
Also many of the levels can be completed by using the same commands and so the only replayability comes from "How else could I achieve that?".
A nice idea but lots of little flaws spoil it and unlike some games the flaws are too many to redeem it.

Great premise ... but the outcomes can be a little unpredictable. In your mind, you may think that something would definitely beat or solve the puzzle, but in reality (ie, within the game), it may actually end up not working, so as a result it feels more like you're experimenting with the different words you can use. Still, it's well-drawn and rather entertaining, so I think that the game deserves the 4 stars :)

It's about innovation Like I said, the game is very creative, with basic graphic and intuitive gameplay, the game's fun to play.

Outstanding sometimes a game developer takes a leap of faith and produces a game that takes our dreams after 20 years of gaming and makes them a reality....you think it or draw it and that imagination comes to life pretty much within the boundary of the DS.
Forget any negatives,yes a few exist and that is why we have sequels,until then buy this,support the developer and design team and enjoy one of the best gaming moments that i can remember in the past 20 years......SUPERB 5/5

Great puzzle game Scribblenauts is one of must fun puzzle games I've played. At first you may think that the ability to create (almost) anything will make everything easier, but that's not the case (except for the first levels). On one hand, there are thousands of objects and interactions between them, so it's not always obvious how they will interact. On the other, it's very easy to have an object in your mind and you simply don't remember it's name - if english is not your first language, it will be worse. The game comes with other languages (french, spanish, portuguese), but there's not always a one-to-one correspondence between objects. (e.g. portuguese "escada" gives 2 options, one of them is the english "ladder", the other I wish I knew - it shows up as a bigger ladder).
The only complaint I have is that - as you only interact with the stylus - it's easy to move your character by accident (like when you try to click on a object and miss, the click makes Maxwell go to the point clicked).
Note: the portuguese translations have a few of mistakes (don't know how many, because I'm playing it in english)
Note 2: yes you can write "starite". No, this won't make you win the level. :-)
