V-Jump guide book. When I bought this, I thought it had been published by Square Enix (I loved the Official Strategy Guide for Dragon Quest IV), but it is in fact the book published by V-Jump.
This is a walkthrough (a good one, too), but again, I was expecting all the artwork and English names that I find in the official guides.
The next two paragraphs are what I wrote for the Dragon Quest IV V-Jump Lead Book:
"Very fine book to guide you through the game. It has a lot of maps, and small notes about important characters and events.
"It is missing on the artwork department, though. Being a guide book, it does its job well, but if you do want more pictures and more info about party members, try the official guide, instead."
The same applies here.
Specific of this book is:
- Monsters Talk: Small vignettes with important parts of the game, like events or mini-games, but presented by monsters.
- Pick Up: I believe these vignettes show the monsters that can join the party at a specific location (so you'd better pick them up while you are close by).
- Included are maps for sugoroku (pachisi) which are very welcome.
All in all, a good investment if you want a step by step walkthrough. Not good if you want artwork for characters, items, places and enemies.
