Simply amazing. There is a definite uniqueness to this soundtrack. It incorporates rock, synthesizers and other means to portray a very dark and foreboding atmosphere. Although, fans of the game will enjoy it much more than those who have not played it, this is still a great soundtrack if for no other reason than its creativity.

One of the better game soundtracks. A great deal containing two discs of great game music. Contains over 40 different tracks and in a higher quality than on the game. Highly recommended.

Woo yay! This is unlike most game soundtracks I've heard - it's much crisper and more melodic. Shin Megami Tensei has a lovely and flowing atmosphere.
I'd only recommend it to fans of the game, though. As a stand-alone disc it's nothing fantastic. It also lacks the extra tracks from Nocture Maniacs/Lucifer's Call (Labyrinth of Amala, Dante's theme, etc).
