A Shooter You Cannot Miss!! An absolutely amazing Arcade port!
I'd have to say that this is quite possibly the hardest shooter I have played, but it is very well among the best. The extreme difficulty only pushes you to get better and play stages over and over while still proving to be a BLAST.
The game comes with a Bonus DVD of a pro Japanese player that will blow your mind. "How does he do that!?"
I don't see this title being discounted or a "Best" version in the works, SO GRAB YOUR COPY TODAY BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! You will not be disappointed.

VERY Nice! I don't really know why I haven't heard of this great game ever since its release but I have been craving for this game for almost a year now. And thanks to play-asia for availing this. I've tried finding this game but I just found it here.
This game is absolutely hard. MUCH harder than the previous Dodonpachis, if you ask me. When I tried the simulation mode and tried the second loop, I got completely bludgeoned! Finishing the whole game on one credit will definitely be a great achievement.
Apart from that, the no-bullet mode is great for those who try to learn where the attacks come from. Frankly, with all the bullets in the later stages, it's quite hard to tell where the enemies are. You can still die from getting hit by the enemies (which happens quite a lot if you don't fire shots.)
Not to mention, the graphics are really beautiful. The music here is also good, but that's quite subjective.
The game CD also has some replays. And of course, we must not forget the other DVD in this set. It's a superplay DVD to help you know the game more and how to deal with stages.
This game really calls out to you, making you wanting to play it! 5/5!

If the devil was real This would have been his "flagship" game, seriously this game really is made in hell and if you love bullet hell shmups and cave titles this game will last you for years.
I have not played a game this brutal since Contra SS and that is a good thing.
I would give this a 6/5 if it was possible.
What are you wating for ? Go buy it!

Great shooter. Waited 2 years for the price to come down, but it was worth it. Originally this was selling at $60US, then $70US, then $80, then $70US for quite awhile. The 5 day special dropping it to $55US finally made me pick it up. Along with the game itself (which includes a super replay in itself) there's also a DVD of someone completing every single level, including the secondary harder levels post-game. The manual also folds out into a poster, which is a nice touch. This game isn't going to be available much longer.

Grab it soon! This shooter can't be missed! Despite the fact that this very well may be the hardest shooter I've ever encountered, it is most certainly one of the best. The chaining system--indicative of past Don Pachi titles--is pure gold, and the levels are extremely well designed. But then again, it's a Cave shooter. Quality is a given! Like ESPgaluda, Arika did a great job porting this over. If you were satisfied with the job Taito did porting Mushihimesama, then you will really be impressed with this effort from Arika. Combined with the Super Play DVD, they really knocked the presentation out of the park.
Get this title soon while you can. I don't see a "Best" version anytime soon. Definitely worth the price of admission.

top notch game aside form what my peers said above(all of which is true!!!) my girlfriend seems to be in love with the NO BULLET mode which allows you to fly through and absorb the intricate detail in the ships, backgrounds and ramdom stuff strew all about without enimies blasting you. this should be an option on all cave shmups (so i could enjoy flying through and taking in the beatiful detail cave embelishes all of their games with). as soon as they have more copies of this game in buy it!!!! you will not be disappointed!!!

Hard as nails. This is easily the most graphically impressive donpachi yet, but its also the hardest too! Generally shooters get tough from level 3 onwards not with this baby its hard from the get go. Incredible is the only word to sum it up. Not the best shooter on the PS2 that goes to Ibara but this comes in second (8/10).

King of Shooters Well, if you dont have this game, i feel sorry for you. If you HAVE this game, i feel sorry for you, haha. This game is insanely hard, and insanely fun all at the same time. It goads you to keep coming back for pummeling after relentless pummeling. ever have i had so much fun getting my butt kicked. My only qualm about this game is that it is only 5 stages. But man it's 5 stages you will never forget, let me tell you. If you dont have, time to hit ebay!

5 of those massive stars, at least!!! Not only do you get one of the greatest games ever, you also get Death Label as well, which is a boss-attack bullet and bomb fest.
The game disk contains replays of all the stages plus their second loop, with the ship not included on the Replay DVD (which is also just splendid). There's all kinds of adjustments that can be made to the gameplay, and there are even two tate modes - one makes use of widescreen TVs by adding that little bit extra of screen. The difference is worth it! ( Espgaluda also has that feature, I am now reluctant to get a tate TV that is not widescreen ).
The game itself is just the most fun and is very much a challenge no matter how good you are at shooter games.
Like many vert shooters this allows instant respawning, so if you want to play thru all the levels regardless of how many times you die, then you can do that, and change ship and weapons type each time a credit is lost.
One of the most satisfying blasters ever - try using bombs in hyper mode! Graphical supremecy. And, great music too.
( first two in the series also are perfect and recommended, I played the Saturn versions only. there seems to be another one in the series that has not been ported? )

Dodonpachi daioujou While I am more partial to ESPgaluda, this game is still undieniably great. The difficulty is about as high as I have seen (read: very high), but it is still quite a bit of fun. And for the masochists out there, they have included Death Label mode. Give it a try if you don't think you have been crying as much as you should.

Gameplay is king Atari did a great job releasing Ikaruga worldwide on the GameCube but I'm afraid the, in my opinion, best shooter of recent years is only available on import.
What's special about Cave's third entry in the series is its gameplay. A lot of thought has obviously gone into balancing the difficulty, and the level design is excellent. Shmup fans are sure to appreciate the finely-tuned game mechanics, but occasional gamers may find the game archaic.

Do Don Pachi Daioujou Many people will tell you that radiant silvergun is the best shooter on any system, Its not, It is the most innovative but this is by far the greatest traditional shooter available
