description
It’s a story about the fastest street racer of Mt Akina. Takumi, a delivery boy; Ryousuke, an engineer of speed; and Kyouichi, a professional racer: the three of them become duelists of drifts.
For five years, 18-year-old Takumi has been delivering tofu in his father’s obsolescent Toyota AE86 every morning. Not only has he become a good racer, but he has also unwittingly perfected the art of drifting.
He was never an aficionado of hill racing until he is asked by his father to drive his AE86 in a David and Goliath race against Night Kids’ EVO. A glorious but unexpected victory awakens the competitive genes in his blood, while his overnight fame inevitably leads to hellraising races one after another, each one more perilous and exciting than the previous one.
Starring Asia’s hottest heartthrobs, Jay Chou and Edison Chen, Initial D is adapted from one of the most popular eponymous manga and anime series in Japan. This is the first live-action feature based on the series to ever grace the silver screen in the world.

A good one ! Movies made after a game/anime never made a great hit (Street Fighter, Resident Evil...)
But Initial D is the first to break that curse !!! The history is globally respected (but differs from the TV) , the cars are just awesome in real, and the casting is pretty good, although most of them are unknown actors. A true success that doesn't make shame on the anime !!
Still a great racing movie even if they don't bear the Initial D franchise. I thought this movie would turn out crappy, but thank goodness I was wrong. The work that the people put into this movie is not a typical low budget movie. The CG is nicely done, they use real Japanese drifters to do the racing scenes, and a lot of Hong Kong superstars in this one film. It's produced by Andrew Lau, I wondered if it's the same lengendary actor Andy Lau. If so, you know he doesn't go cheap on his films. The only problem with this movie is, they tried to fit the series of Stage 1, Stage 2, & Stage 3 into a 2 hour film. But still, it's a must have for the Initial D fans, and even the none fans.
I got my copy from Play-Asia, while some of my friends got theirs from the local stores. The "BIG" difference is, my is the real thing, while theirs are boot-legged. Big thanks for Play-Asia.
