Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence is set in 2032, when the line between humans and machines has been blurred almost beyond distinction. Batou, a cyborg detective for the government's covert anti-terrorist unit, is investigating the case of a gynoid - a hyper-realistic female robot created specifically for sexual companionship - who malfunctions and slaughters her owner.
西暦2032年、人とサイボーグ、そしてロボットが共存する近未来。人間のために作られた愛玩用アンドロイドが、原因不明の暴走を起こし所有者を殺害、その後、アンドロイドは自壊し、電脳は初期化されるという未曾有の事件がわずか1週間に8件も続発した。テロの可能性を察知した公安九課の荒巻は、メンバーに事件捜査の命令を下した。相棒のトグサと共に、問題のアンドロイド捜査のため所轄書に向かったバトーは、鑑識課の検死官ハラウェイから、人間と人間の関係性についての持論を聞かされる。「人間は、何故こうまでして自分の似姿を作りたがるのか…」。その帰り際、沿岸のボートハウスで、ロクス・ソロス社のアンドロイド出荷検査官が殺害されたとの報せが舞い込んだ…。
1995年に公開され、「タイタニック」のジェームス・キャメロンや「マトリックス」のウォシャウスキー兄弟など、多くのクリエーターに影響を与えた映画「GHOST IN THE SHELL／攻殻機動隊」から9年、鬼才・押井守監督が放つ近未来SFアニメーション。第57回カンヌ国際映画祭のオフィシャル・コンペティション部門に史上5本目のノミネートを受けるなど、そのクオリティの高さは世界最高レベル。映像技術はもちろん、物語にちりばめられた現代に生きる全ての人たちに問う押井監督の強いメッセージが込められた衝撃作である。

WOW! just wow!!!! I first saw this in SF in the movie's and fell in love with it.
really everyone should see this anime!! I bought the dvd and it had horible subtitles which ae fixxed in this version. Well i was eagerly awaiting this on HD and it was worth every penny! it looks better than i have ever seen it look. simply amazeing the level of detail on blu-ray. BUY THIS ANIME!!!!!!! play-asia rocks!!!!!!!
