About Wong Kar Wai
Wong Kar Wai is acknowledged as one of the most exciting and influential directors in contemporary world cinema. His concerns are typically suppressed desire, isolation, memory, and the loneliness of urban landscapes.
Wong Kar Wai's directorial debut was “As Tears Go By” (1988), which established Wong's strong visual style. His second work was “Days of Being Wild” (1990). The film won five Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor. “Happy Together” world-premiered at the 1997 Cannes International Film Festival, where Wong was awarded the Best Director.
“In the Mood for Love” at the 2000 Cannes International Film Festival received awards for Best Actor as well as Best Foreign Film and Best Cinematography. Wong’s first sci-fi film “2046” (2004) won six Hong Kong Film Awards.
Wong's latest work is an independent erotic film “The Hand”, starring by Chang Chen and Gong Li, which is collaborated in an international trilogy film “Eros”.
