Surprising. As an avid gamer, it is not very often that I run into truly original games. Okami surprised me.
The idea of how I can interact with the world with my brush is fantastic, and it is amusing to see how characters or items react to my random Power Slashes as I play the game.
It is not a difficult game and is steered more towards lighthearted gaming. Get Okami if you are looking for a refreshing adventure. It will surprise you, like how it surprised me.
This is one of those special games Okami is definitely one of those special games. It is a pure pleasure to play. It's beautiful to look at, the control is perfect, the story is very in depth. I look forward to playing it every evening. I give it 5 stars with a bullet and I recommend it to anyone. I'm in the middle of this game now and I will probably be buying the new Wii version for my nephew for Christmas.
Some complaints that I've read about Okami (and you may stumble across) is that:
There's too much text.
Okay, there is A LOT of text. And if people complain about it, I do understand where they are coming from. The beginning you're just sitting there for like 15 minutes doing nothing and just reading. But the game does pick up, and though there is continuous text through out the game, it doesn't get tooooo bad, and in my opinion, I liked it cause it always moved the story along. In fact the game has also been praised for it's in depth storyline.
It's not very difficult.
ehhh... okay, I agree a little. For most of the puzzles there are very obvious clues given, and I never had to really bust my brain to figure anything out (so far). The bosses are fun in the fact that you have to figure them out, but once you do, it's a matter of getting the job done and as long as you have enough "health potions" (bones in this game), you're really never in any danger of dying.
The text is plentiful and I wish the game was a little more challenging. But having said that, I still give it a 5. I love playing it! And for my 7 year old nephew, it's gonna be perfect!

A heartwarming adventure What a wonderful game. I have always enjoyed the Zelda games, but Okami is something very special.
This is a must play game. I've been gaming since the early 80s and this game is in my personal top 5.
