Sublime !!!

It's a piece of art... as well as the next step in survival horror videogames. If you know japanese at an intermediate level you'll be able to understad almost all conversations. Written text is a little harder, but you could figure out the meaning.

5 Stars.
features
  • Visit old mansions and hospitals in the deserted island. Shine your torch light as if in a real ghost hunt, a blue light will sparkle from objects of interest when you shine your torch on them.
  • Reach out to take the objects of interest, however, beware of the pale hand that stretches out from nowhere to grab you.
  • Read old news articles and memos to learn more about the abduction.
  • Solve the riddles in the hospital and mansion to proceed with the plot.
  • Although the island is deserted, you don't know who you will find there. Touch them to turn them over.
  • Aside from your torch light, your trusty camera is your other ally. It captures spirits and an image of the hidden past onto film.
description
Do things cease to exist if we forget about them?

For every decade, a special ceremony is held at a shrine in Rougetsu island. 10 years ago, during a traditional Japanese concert, a case of suspected abduction occurred. Five girls disappeared without a trace as if taken away by supernatural forces.

Although the case was solved by a policeman, the girls seemed to have suffered from a special form of amnesia, they have forgotten what happened during their abduction. The amnesia disturbed the girls, but this matter seemed to have been settled when they moved away from the island.

However, unlike what everyone thought, this case was not over. 10 years later, two victims from the case were killed in a brutal manner and the survivors suspected it has something to do with Rougetsu island. To find out about the truth behind the case and stop the killing before the culprit takes another life, two survivors, Misaki and Madoka set off to the island they have moved away from so long ago.

The remaining survivor Minatsuki Ruka seemed to be the only one who still retained some remnants of memories from her abduction ordeal. She remembered a melody, a group of musicians being surrounded by a circle of masked men and a masked woman who danced as if she was possessed by spirits. In search of the truth behind the memories and images that plagued her life, she, too set off for the island after Misaki and Madoka.

Gorgeous
I Always wanted to play a Fatal Frame game in any of my Nintendo consoles, and due to this I needed to purchase a Japanese Wii. However this is fantastic game in any aspect, it is a pity that it did not get a localization.

This is a must for all Wii (japanese) owners .

a great sequel
I've been a long time of fan of the fatal frame games, and the fourth one delivers scare after scare with great effort, the story is so captivating and creepy, and the atmosphere itself is unsettling, this game will freak out the most fearless people

A absolute brilliant gem from Grasshopper, Tecmo and Nintendo! Great addition to the franchise, addicting graphics and gameplay, perfect atmosphere!

this is the 4rd Fatal Frame and it's easily as good as the former entries of the franchise.. the game is full in Japanese, but there's a fan-made translation available...

A Pretty Rare Game !
This is the kind of game sadly nobody sees anymore...

It has a great story (like all the previous Fatal Frame/Project Zero), it has a great ambience (like all the previous Fatal Frame/Project Zero).

The only problem I found, is changing the good old static camera for a third-person view.

But nevertheless, this game is GREAT.

Addictive and attractive.
A survival that introduces us to a scary story with a camera as the only weapon.

A unique experience that no one should miss.

Great game, but not entirely without faults
The fourth Fatal Frame game has brilliant storytelling and still shines as one of the greatest horror games alongside Siren. But much like its competitor, it is very rough around the edges - this installment even more so than other iterations in the series. But despite these problems, this is one of those games to be savored alone, at night, trying to maximize the amazing atmosphere.

A scream at every turn
When I first heard that another Fatal Frame was in the making, I was excited. I loved the other three. Crimson Butterfly being the best. With it being on the Wii only made it more exciting. The controls at first are hard and different, but when you finally get used to it, you'll be fine and happy banishing Ghosts. With the new addition of another special weapon other than the Camera Obscura, something new has been brought to the plate. I wont tell you what it is, I'll let you find out.

The storyline is what you expect from the series. With a scary and dark atmosphere that previous players of the series will enjoy getting into and newbies will scream at. If you love survival horror of a different kind, without the guns and the grenade launcher, then this is a game for you. It was for me and I've very much enjoy each scream the game pulled out of me.

Great Graphics, Creepiness, New Weapon and Unique Controls
A really great game. The graphics have been so improved as compared to the previous installments, especially in terms of the environment, which means it's pretty and really creepy at the same time. But you never have to worry about extreme darkness because the game is well-lit.

Controls needs time to get used to, obviously, but once you're familiar with it, most battles are quite a breeze thanks to the new lock-on feature (granted I play the easiest mode, I still think it's a helpful feature for all levels of difficulty).

The story is really nice and complicated, too, filled with surprises and all, but the details need depth of Japanese language. Now with the patch not sure how it turns out, but it shouldn't be a problem.

There's also a new weapon for one of the less-spiritually-charged players - the flashlight, which is a gift from heaven because now you don't have to run from ghosts just because you don't have enough spiritual powers to fight them (except the final boss, of course). And it's pretty fun to use the flashlight, too!

The missions after you finish the game is pretty nice and challenging too. All in all, a really great game. Definitely worth every penny =)

It's a shame this wasn't released all over the world.
As a huge Fatal Frame fan, I can safely say that it sucks this game isn't coming here (or anywhere else, for that matter). It's a good thing fans translated the game into English, because this is easily the best one in the series. The controls ARE horrible, however, so they take a lot of getting used to, but the story, atmosphere, ambiance, voice acting, characters, EVERYTHING else is great. I don't think that should deter anyone from playing it, though -- If you like horror, you owe it to yourself to pick this game up.

Good horror franchise.
This game has a very eerie atmosphere, and will certainly give you some genuine scares. If you liked it on ps2/xbox, wait till you see the nice crisp graphics this installment has, you won't believe it's a wii game.

If you are not in Japan, you should still get it, since some people have found a way to enable this game to play in any wii regardless of region and with english subtitles. And best of all, that method only works with original copies of the game.

Simply Amazing
This game is beautiful. The graphics are lovely, the soundtrack is great, and the story line is beyond comparison. If you are not able to read or speak Japanese, the English patch (fan-made) that was released works perfectly and will easily allow you to play the game on a Wii from any region.

I recommend this game both to seasoned Fatal Frame/Zero fans as well as to new comers. The controls are excellent (I had VERY few difficulties with them, although some do exist), but may take some getting used to if you are new to the Wii. However, the game is very good at pulling you into its world. Even if it frightens you, you'll be back for more - desperate, like the characters, to unfold the mystery at hand. A+ and 5 stars.

Tecmo produced another masterpiece. This game is scary like you wouldn't believe, with both bone-chilling and cheap startling moments! The third-person camera makes things a lot more intense! This game is how Fatal Frame was meant to be played!

this game is import friendly with the help of the unofficial patch even without needing to mod your wii console. the game plays like a dream, if you are a fan of the series you will love this fourth installment. it isn't dumbed down like most series veteran said and is full of scares and downright creepy. don't play this late at night.

Immersive horror game
Fatal Frame 4 proves to be yet another great game in the Fatal Frame series. More than that, though, on the whole, it might be the most immersive of them due to the controls. There is an issue of low responsiveness for a couple things that could have made the immersion that much better, but the game still proves to draw you in as it is.

A must have for Fatal Frame fans!

Great return to form.
Amazing sequel to possibly the best horror game series ever. After initial familiarisation with controls on the Wiimote, a thoroughly enjoyable experience with great visuals, superb soundtrack and amazing atmosphere. A great game slightly hindered by some not-so-great controls
The Fatal Frame series returns with the 4th iteration on the Wii. Mask of the lunar eclipse continues what the series is known for. A scary atmosphere, beautifully detailed characters and environments, a well developed ritualistic story, yup it's all there. Not much has really changed here, if you've played a fatal frame game in the past its not going to feel much different.

The game progresses much in the ways of its predecessors. They have however refined this style of play in FF4. All of the game mechanics work very well and don't feel like they need and revisions as some of the games have in the past. When it comes down to it If you liked any previous fatal frame game you WILL like this one.

My biggest (and possibly only) qualm with this game are the controls. You must use the wiimote to control the vertical axis of your flashlight (or rather, the camera) and the Camera Obscura (your weapon). this would be ok, as it worked almost flawlessly in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. But unlike Silent Hill the game doesn't use the sensor bar. as a result the movements are much, MUCH less precise. and since you move the horizontal axis with the analog stick, moving diagonally is a pain. There's even a bit of a delay when moving the remote. There is no room for that in this kind of game and I could have easily given this game a 5 if not for this.

The controls aside the game is still great and any survival horror fan should at the very least check out.

Real terror
One you see more, this game less causes moments of scare in thought situations, in this fourth delivery is necessary to be with the been on awares to solve certain puzzles and to end the phantoms. With good graphs and the typical mysterious environment adjustment of this sort of game, is very recommendable for the players who wish to enjoy it thoroughly.

Another great installment
The same great ambiance that we've come to expect from the series. More or less the same game-play we have also come to know and love. And again some great characters, and plot to keep the game fresh and interesting.

This game is a wonderful addition, to a sadly dying breed of a genre. Definitely pick it up, if you are a fan of a more traditional style survival horror.

And provides with a reason to keep on playing! Beautifully rendered on the Wii and with an innovative control scheme, Tecmo has a made a game for a fan of the series as much as a great game for anyones collection! It's worth it to note that you will not be able to play this game on a NTSC UC Wii.

A gem
A superb game which, unfortunately, will never make it outside of Japan for no good reason (courtesy of Nintendo). As always, the story is enticing, graphics are quite good and the atmosphere is awesome. Too bad I don't understand much japanese, but, either way, it's a great experience for any Wii owner out there. If you are a fan of the genre, or just like horror related videogames, then this is one you need to purchase.

Also, thanks a lot to Play- Asia for the outstanding costumer service, as usual.

A really scary game
This is my first fatal frame game I'm playing.. and all I can say is that it's freaking scary - great graphics in my opinion, and nice atmosphere for your scary needs.

No music, but the Background sounds, doors opening - faint screams or voices and sounds of people walking / running did at least make my heart beat faster, and I hope you'll find this game interesting.

Everything is in Japanese, and I advice players to have a little understanding in japanese before buying.

Easily the best game in the series.
The controls are a little strange at first, but you get used to them quickly.
Overall knowledge of Japanese isn't too much of a problem (as once you obtain a key to a room it's automatically marked and shown to you on the map), and is fairly easy to get through.
The ghost attacks can get a little repetitive and the new lock-on feature can make the game a little too easy at times- especially with the addition of the "exchange" (the shop inside save points).
There are a few bugs (only one of which detriments gameplay severely). Overall, it has possibly the best story in the entire series so far. Definitely worth playing, even if you've not played the rest of the series.
