Fighting Commander 3, ok so far
Ain't nothing close to a sega saturn japanese 6-button pad, or the ps 2 sega saturn one, but if you ain't got any of those or the proper converter to use them on a ps3, then you must pick up the Fighting Commander pad if you are playing 2D fighters. The face buttons are very large. It is a bit wide but feels sturdy in your ...

Very nice fighting pad!
I received delay this pad by late Brazilian mail account be on strike. But it is a nice pad and responses to commands is accurate, beautiful acquisition.

Feels cheap
Buttons are too wide and won't press down evenly if you're off center. The d-pad itself is okay. The controller as a whole feels very light and cheap. While it's possible to become accustom to pad play for fighting games, perhaps even with these pads, you're really doing yourself a disservice by putting off learning on an arcade stick.

Its the very nice fighting pad!
Great pad for oldscool-style fighting games, like Mortal Kombat 9, Street Fighter 4, The King of Fighters or otherwise!

Great controller, but maybe be iffy for those with big hands
Awesome controller. Fits pretty well, loving the ergonomics. Only gripe I have with it is that it has duplicated R1/R2 buttons on the face and shoulders. If it had the layout of the MadCatz SF4 fightpad I'd marry it. Also if you have big hands like I do, be mindful of your QCF and other circular motions as you will miss the down-forward part. After a while thought you'll get used to it. Best pad on the market for fighting games tho, hands down.

Old school meets new school
This is an awesome pad for fighters, especially those that grew up playing fighting games on cross pads. Circle pads are good too, like those of the Mad Catz pads but hitting corners could be hit or miss. This pad is surprisingly light, but thats is most likely due to the lack of rumble functionality

A good pad
Generally a great pad for fighting games.
My only problem with the pad is that the extra face button are R1/R2 instead of L1/L2...

great controller
d-pad is much better than ds3 and 6 button layout also great improve compare to standard ps3 pad. if only 2 additional face buttons were L1 and L2 this could be ideal pad

Good alternative to DS3
You'll notice right away that the buttons are very responsive. The D-pad really should be more like the Saturn controller, but for what it is, it does a very good job. If you play games with IADs, they are extremely easy with this controller. Very good diagonal vs orthogonal distinction. You'll never accidentally hit the wrong direction because of the controller like you will on an xbox360 d-pad.
The L1 and R1 shoulder buttons feel a little awkwardly placed (a bit too high much like a Gamecube Z-button), but it's generally not a problem. Also, the 6 face buttons really should have included L1 and L2 rather than R1 and R2, but that's a gripe that really only comes into play when you're playing a game that requires 8 different buttons. Next, you can't use this controller to turn on your PS3 while it's turned off. I don't know why that is, but it's strange and kinda annoying. My only other complaint is that it doesn't work with PS2 games being played on the PS3.
Overall, my complaints are pretty trivial. This really is a good controller to play fighting games with.

Great fighting pad
This pad is better than the madcatz fightpad series put alltogether. Great D Pad and high quality buttons. Its a lot more easier to do some combos than with the Dualshock 3 or fightpad. Im really happy with it and if u arent a arcade stick player then this is the pad to go with ;)

FC3
Waited 2 months for the pad coz i din manage to pre-order, and was on the 1st wave of waitlist.
Not as slim as i though but quality is there :)
I can "dragon punch" better then using Madcatz SF4 pad :)

The d-pad is responsive (way better than the madcatz fightpad), but why they went the d-pad to be the stupid cross instead of a complete circle is beyond me. Start and home buttons are a good way away from the buttons, so when you're mashing out a crouch tech or throw, you won't be hitting home or pause on accident. I've only been testing it out for a couple weeks, and be warned buttons do stick occasionally, but i am pretty sure that's because it needs more breaking in. If you play SF, KOF, Melty Blood, and don't have hori's sega saturn 6-button version or want a back up pad just in case, pick this one up!

Could have been better
The HORI FC3 is a great pad for fighting games other than Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV.
R1 and R2 are duplicated as face buttons, which means that if you like to have buttons set for Px3 or Kx3 you are forced to have them on L1 and L2.
L1 and L2 should have been the face buttons so you could have had Px3 and Kx3 as R1 and R2. I think it's easier to press R buttons instead of L buttons during gameplay.
Outside of this it's a great pad. The d-pad is far better than a Dual Shock 3 and the MadCatz SF4 pads too.
There are both Turbo and Auto fire functions, and the cable is nice and long.
If it wasn't for the button problem I described I would have given a 5-star rating, but sadly I feel it could have been a much better, especially as it is officially licensed and HORI aren't exactly new to making control pads.

Would have been decent
If you're going to play games that require the 3-Punch or 3-Kick button like Street Fighter IV, then this controller is not for you. The 2 extra face buttons are mapped to the R1 and R2 too, so you're still stuck with those annoying L1 and L2 buttons for you're 3-Punch/Kick. This controller would have been great... if only they put some thought into it.

Poor layout
I got the Hori ex turbo 2 for the 360, perfect button layout the extra button on the side are the hard to hit RB and LB (or L1 and L2 for Ps3 people) but on this one the extra button are the R1 and easy to hit R2, so you waste a button. porr effort hori, you screwed up.

It's alright
Prior to using this, I used a dualshock3. I can do certain motions a bit faster on this d-pad, but other than that I don't notice much of a difference.
The buttons are great. At first I didnt like how there was 2 sets of R1 and R2 buttons, but it helps me press 3xPunch or 3xKick better. The face buttons are fairly large as well.
Comfort wise, it's more easier to hold than a dualshock. Played a little over an hour and no discomfort so far.
One thing I would've liked is a switch to change the dpad to be the input for the left/right analog sticks like on the Madcatz sticks/pads. Also the blue version of this product looks a lot more purple than the images make it seem. I wish I got a black one instead.

Same boat
I'm in the same posistion as the previous 2 reviewers.I ordered the Fighting Commander 3 (black) on April 26th and my order still hasn't processed. What more the status of the item didn't change until a week and half after it should have shipped. So now my copy of Super Street Fighter 4 sits and collects dust while I await my controller

Decent controller
Just received this today. The button layout is excellent for games like Street Fighter IV, but the D-pad is not as good as the Sega Saturn controller. Overall still a pretty decent controller for the PS3.
