GOD SAVE THE KING!
The crazy, zany, world of Katamari is back and better than ever before, complete with new stages, new visual effects, new strategies, and full 1080p HD resolution! The gameplay has generated millions of fans worldwide and the loveable characters are ready to roll again.
The King of All Cosmos has bumped his head and lost all his memory. The Prince and his cousins created RoboKing to replace the King, but it went out of control and destroyed all the stars in the Cosmos. To clean up the mess made by RoboKing and bring back the Kings memory, the Prince and his Cousins must roll their Katamaris and bring color back to the world. So get ready to roll that Katamari once more!
If you haven't played katamari before then now is your chance. I bought this game thinking I would get my girlfriend hooked on videogames - but then I managed to get hooked myself instead!
With all the tense games I play (CoD4, Uncharted 2, SFIV etc), it's really nice to have a game like this where I just get to roll about picking stuff up. It's relaxing, but as I mentioned above, it's also a lot of fun.
The levels are great as well. Watching your katamari grow big enough to roll up people, cars, houses, buildings, sea monsters and on and on is heaps of fun.
All I can say is pick this game up, you won't be disappointed!
Great for Katamari fans A lot like the older versions of the game, this Katamari is still fun for fans of the franchise. If you're a newcomer, be prepared for quirky Japanese insanity. I was a bit disappointed with the graphics. Certain art styles, like the levels that appear to be drawn with crayons, look a bit grainy and irritated my eyes. I was expecting high-def gorgeousness, I got eye pain. Hmm... Overall, it's a fun game to pick up when you want to kill a few hours, and the near lack of story allows you to put down the controller whenever you like.
Nothing (much) new, but you already knew that If you love the Katamari series you are bound to buy this no matter what the review. That doesn't change the fact that the gameplay is still as addictive, or the presentation is just as charming as all the other iterations that have previously been released.
The graphics look amazing in full 1080p, the sounds are as cute as usual, the menu system is new and interesting (although I can't find an option to have all your cousins disco dance, which is disappointing!) and the new levels are something of an innovation.
Negatives include some of the soundtrack - I don't really care for the remixes, and it would have been nice if they had the option to play the original tracks instead; the camera can be painful, especially when rolling under tables and the like; and it does have frame rate issues which are quite significant at times. And the cartoons between levels - cannot stand them! But you can skip them.
Still...a month later and I'm still putting this one back in my PS3 every now and then to perfect a level or two.
Best Katamari Game! The greatest Katamari game ever made. Includes stages from past Katamari games and new ones, which are innovative and fun. The graphics are sharper and more colourful, thanks to bluray and full HD presentation. Kudos to the developers for keeping to the core music with some remix here and there.
The challenge of finding more cousins and presents keeps you coming back for more. Full marks for replay value!
