The legendary general Yamanouchi Kagetora, intent on avenging his father’s death, has devised the most ingenious weapon ever to hit the medieval battlefield: the Odama, a gigantic ball powerful enough to destroy whatever it strikes – friend or foe. Players use the Nintendo GameCube Mic to direct soldiers out of the Odama’s way and into the fray, and prove that they have the skills to back up the power of the Odama.

The entire Mario gang is back for the seventh installment of the incredibly popular Mario Party franchise. Players everywhere will set their controllers to fun as they run, jump, swim and fly through more than 80 new minigames. But this party’s about to get a lot bigger ... because EIGHT people will now be able to battle each other at one time.

The microphone peripheral from Mario Party 6 also makes a grand return – and with the new Mic Grand Prix mode, there will be plenty of voice-over madness for everyone. The addition of two new playable characters, Dry Bones and Birdo, will ensure that even seasoned Mario Party vets can experience a new world of wackiness.

Fred Durst isn't the only one who's "Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'" these days. Sega has a gang of madcap monkeys ready to roll into the mix, in a zany racing/action/minigame extravaganza for Nintendo GameCube called Super Monkey Ball.

Accurately titled, Super Monkey Ball challenges players to control cute little monkeys who run around in transparent balls not unlike hamster balls. That the monkeys, balls and tracks all look great even in the midst of split-screen frenetic action is a terrific tribute to the Nintendo GameCube's processing power. This game supports Dolby Surround.

Before the advent of the video game, pinball tables ruled the juke joints, pool halls and arcades. Pinball Hall of Fame highlights some of the best pinball tables famed maker Gottlieb produced during pinball's heyday.

In an arcade setting, choose from one of seven different pinball tables. Each table shows how the pinball table design evolved from 1957 to 1993. Each table sets a goal for you to accomplish. If you meet the goal, a bonus will unlock in Pinball Hall of Fame.

Unlockable bonuses include Tournament Mode, Payout Mode, a tour of the Gottlieb factory and a few secret game options. Each table you play features a historical tidbit about the table and the original marketing flier produced by Gottlieb. Multiplayer action is alternating.

Most importantly, the pinball action is top notch and the ball physics are true to form. Some of the goals are quite hard to accomplish. At least you don't have to worry about spending all your quarters.

Just in time for those long winter nights comes The Main Man himself (i.e., Mario) with fistfuls of all new games that are guaranteed to keep you mashing and mouthing (more later) 'til the break of dawn. Literally.

Graphically, Mario Party 6 is the prettiest in the franchise yet. Fully rounded character models, smooth animation and cheerful lighting make for nonstop eye candy.

Every three turns on the multiplayer boards, the sun sets or rises. Barriers rise to redirect your path, spaces move or disappear altogether and scruffy characters like Boo appear. On one board, you reverse direction altogether! Minigames change appearance or may not be available at. Some even flip upside-down!

Use the Mic controller for quizzes and to bark orders to your racing character in the Shine Sprint minigame. In other minigames, the player with the Mic will verbally guide his or her character in a competition against three other characters. In Verbal Assault, for example, shout orders to blast away at your three rivals.

Besides three-on-one, two-vs.-two and four-player minigames, Mario Party 6 features Duel (one vs. one), and challenges from Donkey Kong and Bowser. Natch, the King of the Koopas doesn't miss a chance to trash-talk you beforehand. Perhaps most intriguing are Rare games. To get one of these, you have to land by exact count on the very last space on one of the three Solo Mode boards.
