description

The story begins in spring 1936- in a working-class district in the north of Paris. In this blue-collar neighborhood, three inhabitants who are also show-business workers and close friends were unemployed since the music halt - Chansonia, the music hail, closed down four months earlier.

Pigoil, thirty years with Chansonia, could lose custody of his 12-year-old son, JoJo, without a job. He decides to re-open the music hall, together with his old colleagues Milou and Jacky. They decide to take hold of their destiny: occupying the Chansonia and producing the “hit” musical with the arrival of a mysterious and attractive young singer, Douce. But their lack of experience makes the music halt close soon again.

Pigoil doesn’t want to give up because this is the dream of the
whole neighborhood and the only way he can win his son back, can the Chansonia “rise from its ashes” again? It’s all in “Paris 36”!

Dramatic with just the right amount of humour.
Full of songs and humor and theatrics, this movie is for anyone who loves rooting for the underdog!

The movie is set in Paris so those crazy about the City of Love & Lights will enjoy the liberal sprinkling of sets featuring famous monuments (Notre Dame, Tour Eiffel) and Parisian streets.

Many of the stars who act in this movie also act in the popular Les Choristes so look out for familiar faces if you were a fan of the earlier movie!
