孟思凡（林心如飾）是30年代上海被稱為阮玲玉接班人的人氣女星。不知名的小導演顧維邦（楊祐寧飾）有一個當大帥的父親顧鳴山（任達華飾），但父子總是意見不合，顧維邦不顧父親的反對，創作了一部以戲院為背景的驚悚愛情電影《夜半歌女》，也成功邀請孟思凡擔任女主角，更打算在麗宮影院拍攝，而這一家電影院正是傳說中的靈異劇院。拍攝開始之後，離奇事件接二連三，其後神秘人更捉了顧維邦。看破了一切陰謀的顧鳴山為了救回兒子，以看首映為名，帶著軍隊前往戲院，並遇上了早已部署多時的神秘人。這時，神秘人的陰謀和身份就此揭開。
