Neo Geo AES cart Real Bout FF2 The Newcomers
This is the last Fatal Fury game released. Some say its the best in the series. I have to agree. When I popped this in the AES I was blown away by the intro music/graphics. Graphics-wise this game is simply gorgeous. There are only 11 backgrounds, but what we have are great. There are 22 playable fighters with Xiangfei and Rick new additions to the roster. Xiangfei is my favorite with easy to pull off combos.
Gameplay is the highlight of this game. The movesets for each fighter is extensive and not hard to pull off. Switching fields remain intact in this game, a signature feature in all the FF games.
The only disappointment in this game is the rather abrupt endings. Having been spoiled with the Art of Fighting series and its superb storytelling, the endings are as shallow as the nonexistent storyline.
Despite this, the graphics and gameplay are enough to recommend this game. So what are you waiting for? GET IN THE RING!
