description

River City: Tokyo Rumble follows the story of a hot-blooded high school student named Kunio and his good friends. When a nefarious gang moves into Tokyo to try to take it over, it’s up to this self-proclaimed “fighter for justice” and his buddies to make sure the streets stay safe!

Punch, kick, use weapons such as soccer balls, iron knuckles, chains, and even bicycles to knock some sense into those devious gang members. Take on jobs, level up your abilities, and don’t forget to stop on occasion for a snack or two at the local food joints. Luckily, smiles are free!

Brought back nostalgia
Playing this game reminded me of the nes version I played years ago. The game looks great on the 3ds. The upgrades to the game are refreshing. I can't say how long the game is as I haven't completed it yet. Overall for me it was worth the purchase. I live in America and this game isn't released here.

The return of the king
If you loved Retro City Rampage on their original formats and all the sequels, you MUST buy it. It has all the original characters, the gameplay is almost identical but with some great adittions, and all the fun and humor of the game is all there.

If you are a fan of the series, it's an easy buy, otherwise, do some research first.
I can only speak to this game as a long time fan of River City Ransom back on the NES. I was a big fan of that game as a kid, and it's still a great game to this day, one I'm glad to have on my 3DS thanks to the VC. When this one was announced to get a localization I knew I had to have it. And a limited amount of physical copies too? As an old-school minded gamer, I knew I needed that too.

The game itself is a lot of fun. There's just enough cool additional things and 'quality of life' additions or changes over the NES title. No friendly fire from your ally is a BIG boon. Having a dedicated jump button is also awesome as well.

The game itself is quite short. I went through the story mode with a decent amount of grinding on Normal in just under 7 hours. New Game + with your levels and skills if you want to replay. So it's a short game, but the nostalgia factor and just having a new River City game makes it easily worth the money if you are a fan already. If not, again, look into the game some more, and if you aren't worried about a fairly short game for your purchase, then go for it!
