Good if you are a fan
I have a personal taste for the Rune Factory saga. This version does not dissapoint. Feels like a deserved upgrade from Rune Factory: Frontier.
-I liked the battle mode.
-I disliked mining.
Good if you have played RFs before or Harvest Moon at least. If you want to get into it, try looking for Frontier or one ...[read more...]
descriptionCultivate your lands, fight the monsters and find your soul mate. Choose the gender of your player character, when Accel and Sonya are transferred to this world, they accidentally ended up in one body, so you can switch between the boy point of view and the girl point of view in mid game. Of course, there are lots of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes, how you weave your story, is completely up to you.No matter what you do, though, be sure to meet Yumil the giant. Ask him to lift islands for you to create farmland. He can also fish out sunken ships from the bottom of the sea for you to conduct treasure hunts in. Sea monsters, too, will make their appearances, let Yumil fight these dragons.

I'm more than 30 hours in, and I could say- if you're expecting a relaxing farming game like Harvest Moon, then this is not the game for you.
This installment of Rune Factory kind of brushes aside the farming in favor of exploration, battling, and taming.
As I've mentioned, don't expect much farming cause your monsters will do all that for you. You don't buy seeds, you don't till soil, you don't water the plants... cause your monsters kinda do all that for you. You plant crops through magic, and what grows up out of it depends on the kind/s of monster/s working in your island.
While yes, farming is left out, I still enjoyed the game immensely. I like exploring ruins, I like battling monsters, I like taming monsters, I like the thrill of discovering new lands- and these are enough to satisfy my gaming needs. All in all, I guess farming was thrown away in favor of Rune Factory's other elements.
It's a really good game with the best features from Harvest Moon plus fighting and raising monsters to help you.
Ahh Rune Factory :D
Dungeon crawling and a harvest moon like feel...very cool indeed.
Explor the world of farm & RPG.
Take Harvest Moon and combine it with classic dungeon crawling RPG and you got this game. It's interesting in many aspects such as farming, monster taming, dungeon crawling, fulfilling NPC's requests, as well as finding a partner in life. The only downfall of this game is the lack of NPC's reactions on different occasions. They always says the same thing no matter what changes I made in the story. (Thus deducted 1 star)
