description

The next evolution in producer of Devil May Cry 4, Hiroyuki Kobayashi’s BASARA series is coming to Wii with Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes. Set during a tumultuous period of Japanese history, Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes follows players as they fight their way to the dramatic battle of Sekigahara. Players will take up the swords and spears of more than a dozen fierce samurai warriors in huge battles against hundreds of opponents in many exciting stages that lead up to the main event.Featuring unique playable characters, as well as supporting generals who will make it easier to command and lead armies, players will see the battle from the perspective of each military commander with the ultimate goal of re-writing history to rule all of 16th century Japan. In the dynamic new “Hero’s Story” mode, the player’s decisions impact history with a redesigned story mode. Based on choices made by the player, new drama unfolds as friends become enemies, enemies become friends, and a new Sengoku story unfolds. Adding a new strategic element to the game, forces can fight for control/taking over of camps and ultimately entire battlefields.

Perfect!
Beside the "serious" Warriors-Series, this game is one its best kind, decent graphics, nice voice acting and some laughable moments. Note: US-Ver. is multi language, great!

Let's learn Japan's History...kind of
I always liked Samurai Heroes ever since I played it in PS2. Some of the characters have drastically changed in terms of design and .. personality in this game compared to Samurai Heroes particularly Oichi. Not to mention Mitsunari has turned emo with that hairstyle. Even his personality is all emo with constant spouting of "I hate Ieyasu" but at least he's wearing purple and I like purple.

The characters looks cool. Costumes are great if I ignore Mitsunari's hair. You still get to kill thousands of people with ease unless you choose a harder difficulty. The boss fight can be tough at times and some bosses can't be defeated and instead requires you to escape. You also collect upgrades that you can insert into your weapon that you can only find on certain battlegrounds.

The story is ... kind of repetitive. You basically chose a hero and that hero would eventually be either on Mitsunari's side or Ieyasu's side (or neither, in some cases)
The peak of the story is ALWAYS the fight between Mitsunari (purple) and Ieyasu (yellow). So far, I've played with 5 characters and unlocked a few others but all 5 of them always end up at the same battleground where it's a fight between purple vs yellow. If you're playing as Kanbe Kuroda you get to defeat both of them. Still, you are at that battleground where Ieyasu is fighting Mitsunari.

The game does allow you to choose who to fight within the hero's storyline. And whatever you choose would affect the outcome of the story. Some character would die on this path, on another path, that character would survive. But, having the same storyline means you'll fight the same character on the same battlefield with the same strategy. The only difference is, you're using another hero. It gets boring.

The only thing motivating me to play this game is the fact that it's couch co-op and I'm waiting to unlock Tsuruhime (although I kinda dislike her character) oh and of course, Oda Nobunaga which requires a lot of replay by choosing different story paths.

But if you don't care about the story/completion and just enjoy killing people over and over again, this game is for you.
