Perfect reimagining of the first Silent Hill
Now this is a perfect remake for the original Silent Hill. it's completely different, so whether you have played the first Silent Hill or not, this is a completely brand new game for you to play

Great game
Silent Hill 2 is still the best ever in my opinion. But Shattered Memories is great, the gameplay is much better now, and you won't fight enemies like a fearless man anymore. Now it's time to run away from your nightmares! It's a different way to tell the story of Silent Hill 1. Multiple endings might have you coming back for a second playthrough, and that's what I'm gonna do it. See ya!

PS2 lives on...for now
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the PS2 could be one of the last few excellent games for the console.

First of all, the graphics are actually quite adequate and serviceable in the age of next-gen consoles.

The storyline is also engaging, with many cutscenes featuring Harry's therapy sessions and the many questions that he would have to answer in order to influence the final outcome of the game.

The gameplay is also revamped to ensure that you do not get to equip weapons to fight the monsters in the game - so you have to run away from encounters rather than facing these beasts head-on.

The 'nightmare' sequences are actually good - the whole environment 'freezes up' and that's when you'll know that you have got to run for the exit point. Thankfully, there are doors marked in blue and other pick-ups like flares to distract your predator.

The interaction with the in-game environment is also a class above other older titles. You can stare at a wedding scene for a few seconds and you can hear Harry commenting on what he has just seen.

As this may be one of the last few games for the great PS2 console, you could do yourself a favour and buy this game without delay!
