Marvelous
Wow, seems like my previous reviewer described a lot already, bravo to him/her =P
As I watched the anime, I was thinking ' it'd be great if I can get the OST' and accidentally came across this page! Boy was I elated! The music producers of Sora wo Oto had been very careful and put in quite an amount of effort into the music part of this anime. It's definitely worth a buy especially for all those orchestral lovers out there!
Seems like there's only 2 left! Grab them before it's all gone for good!!

Subject as translated and quoted from So Ra's magnificent French insert, "Servante du feu Fee du feu". That song, listed as track 4, dictates beautifully by the voice of Matthieu Ladouche, that nothing in this world is futile. One may wish to, indeed, see something disappear--a person...or many persons. But wouldn't it be better to accept it all, as necessary notes in this infinite melody of life?
Honestly, I object to that message. But hey; does it not sound wonderful? It really does.
As does the whole of So Ra No Wo To's marvelously orchestrated soundtrack. From "Servante du feu"'s philosophical, honest, yearning vocals and exotically bohemian music, to "Un bol d'air"'s happily blasting trumpets to a jaunty string melody and then again to the gentle sense of enigmatic loss demonstrated in "Souvenir perdu" this collection of songs is nothing short of masterful. Far from the usual anime song composition of keyboard tunes, Michiru Oshima has matched the anime's stunning setting with its music in a European theme. Brass, strings, lute, guitar, piano...
Then of course, "Amazing Grace". That age-old Christian hymn, conducted on a solo trumpet as with that truly amazing scene when Kanata first heard it. This OST doesn't disappoint, however, and follows up that one noble trumpet with a full orchestra. Whether you are one for forgiveness or not, it's a beautiful song. (I'm an atheist myself so the Christian part has no effect.)
This soundtrack is as unique as its anime. It is a magnificent and nearly unheard of blend of honest, ravaged beauty (Monsieur Ladouche's enunciation being the "ravaged" bit. ;3), sweet aimlessness, and a great mystery that is never really solved. But by the end, you'll find that doesn't matter. All will be forgiven.

Clearly I'm no professional reviewer... xD;; Five stars anyhoo!
