Faithful but dated
Taito's original Space Invaders is a classic -- it was the first game where the targets fired back, and gave birth to everything from Galaxian to Ikaruga. This PC Engine edition is faithful to the coin-op in many respects, even replicating the arcade machine's attract mode, and it plays just like the original, though the sound is a little off. Unfortunately, the genre has evolved so much since Space Invaders was released that the design now feels dated and repetitive -- it's fun for a few minutes, but Galaga '88 has held up much better.
