- A Surprising Dark Fantasy - Traditional hardcore elements, like perma-death and Life Points, combined with a new Ambush system for a new and challenging gameplay
- Competition in the Dungeon - Unlike most dRPGs, Stranger of Sword City won’t leave you as a stranger among your peers. Online leaderboards will allow you to compete with friends and others across the world and display your dominance in best gear and fastest clear time
- Art Overwhelming - Fantasy is created by visuals and music as much as by story. The breathtaking art throughout your travels and abundance of character portraits available for creating your perfect party will allow you to be truly transported into the magic of Sword City
From the dungeon crawling geniuses behind Demon Gaze, this new title takes a decidedly more Western approach to the traditional dungeon crawler and infuses the game with dark fantasy themes, new gameplay elements, and the ability to compete with fellow players through a leaderboard system. At its core it's a game about death and fighting against vanishing forever. You will discover new meaning in the choices you make to survive against all odds. You will define yourself by the lives of those you leave behind, by the people you align yourself with, and the experiences you have on each new venture into the dark labyrinths that threaten to trap you.
Your flight crashes after passing through a mysterious portal. As the sole survivor, you awaken to an unfamiliar land lit by stars you’ve never seen. This land is Escario, the city of swords. Quickly marked as the Chosen One, the Stranger of Sword City, you must defend this place, and choose your allegiances carefully as you scour the land for a way home.

An enjoyable dungeon crawler, if this is the genre you enjoy, I highly recommend this.
If you've played other games from the same developer such as Demon Gaze then you'll feel right at home here.
Many of the 'dungeons' look similar to those in Demon Gaze, many re-used assets including sounds and graphical.
This isn't an uncommon practice but it does take a bit away from the game.
Except to die a lot, and out of no where. Save when ever you can.
Each character has LP (Life Points) and when they hit 0 that's it they're gone. Provided that you have a minimum of 2 LP you can heal a LP so you won't loose a character however this takes a lot of time (6 days+ in game time, which is about an hour).
Try not to die, and if you do be prepared to either re-load, loose a character or be without them in your party for some time.
The game however is quite enjoyable, make sure you grind a lot to get money, items and the elusive exp to make a stronger team..and well not die.
Enjoyable dungeon RPG .. good artwork is one of the redeeming point
This has been the funnest most interesting Dungeon Crawler i've played to date
I only wish there was not such a big disparity in the character artwork. You are in a fantasy world full of mythical monsters that look very good and they have a very dark and serious tone to their design, but the characters that guide you have an anime aesthetic reminiscent of games like bullet girl and such. It doesn't quite fit together.
