description

Welcome to the Corleone family. After a life of small-time jobs and petty thefts, you've been accepted into America’s most famous criminal organization. Now in The Godfather™ The Game it’s up to you to carry out orders, earn respect, rise through the ranks, and make New York City your own. Play your cards right and you could even be running everything as the next, and most powerful, Don.

A story about family, respect, and loyalty, The Godfather novel by Mario Puzo and film by Paramount Pictures served as inspiration for the game. Join the Corleone family and earn respect through loyalty and fear as you rise through the ranks to become Don in a living, 1945-1955 New York City.

The Godfather The Game puts you at the center of the action in one of history’s most revered cinematic masterpieces, allowing you to create yourself in the game. Choose your path as you rise from lowly outsider to envied and feared Don.

Solve the family’s problems with brutal violence, skillful diplomacy, or a cunning mixture of both. From mob hits and bank heists to drive-bys and extortion, step deep inside the Mafia world where intimidation and negotiation are your tickets to the top.

Use your powers of loyalty and fear to earn respect through interactions with characters in the world. Decisions will have lasting consequences, just as it was in the mob underworld featured in The Godfather fiction.

worth a play through
I have the English 360 copy, and it is worth a playthrough. The story is good, and the game play is fun.

nice game
The menus and the interface of this game is in Japanese but it should not discourage you from buying it. The spoken language is in English, for those who can't understand Japanese and it should be easy to follow the storyline.

Even if you have no appreciation for the 'Godfather' movie and franchise, this game is solid on its own - attractive graphics even on the PS2 machine, a good game engine and interesting combat sequences (such as peeking from corners in a shootout).

While the game might feel like just another 'Mafia' or 'Grand Theft Auto' spinoff, it doesn't go along the path - you could wreck up businesses and gain protection money or you could venture too far up in trouble and start a gang war with a rival family. There are instances where you could stray too far from your family turf and end up in another gang neighborhood where they are certain to barricade your path and you'd be forced to fight your way through. You could also take on side missions for that little extra dough.

Overall, this is a good game - but the Japanese language menus might be a little difficult to navigate.

GTA Clone
Firstyly, thanks again to Play-Asia for their promy delivery to Japan and the great price.(Weekly special)
Its basically Grand Theft Auto set to the story of the Godfather, with side missions etc.
Its an intriguing game and becomes more interesting as the game moves along. The graphics are ordinary but its a cross gen game so is to be expected.
Good for fans of the Godfather saga.

Superb
Any fan of sandbox games should give this a go. If like me you are sick of the over-used GTA/Saint\'s Row hip hop themed gangster games, give Godfather a go. No hip hop at all! The change to a slightly older world and mafia family is a welcome one for me.
Check it out!
