This Week in Movies: Don’t Breathe, War Dogs, Lights Out, The Prince

Two indie horror movies of notice are out this week: one is Fede “Evil Dead Remake” Alvarez’ Don’t Breathe and the other one is David Sandberg’s Lights out. Both tap into the fear of the dark and would make a really good “Don’t breathe lights outdouble feature. Just be prepared for a massive electricity bill from keeping your lights on for a week!
Said double feature could also apply for badass-action with “I am the wrath prince”. Both movies are variations of Taken’s Liam Neeson character out for justice, but with the difference that it is Bruce Willis’ antagonist who takes revenge in The Prince and John Travolta’s wig-warrior-hero in I Am Wrath.
If both options sound too dark for you, how about some light-hearted war profiteering based on real events? Meet War Dogs, the crime comedy about two twentysomething arms traders that exploit a legal backdoor to bid on U.S. Military contracts. As is to be expected, the pair gets in over their heads when they land a deal to arm the Afghan Military. As the money flows in, so do drugs and problems, especially from the competition. And the Military. And organised crime.
