features

  • Nightmarish Open World - Explore the depths of the young girl’s hometown, filled with an unnerving atmosphere reminiscent of Japanese horror. Traverse its run-down school, graveyards, vacant factory, forest, and more
  • Unlock The Mystery - Equipped with only a flashlight, you must guide the young girl and help uncover the mystery behind the darkness that covers her once-peaceful hometown. Search for hidden items, add them to your collection, and use them to interact with spirts or to unlock new story events
  • Spiritual Interaction - In each chapter of the game, you will encounter spiritual creatures inspired by Japanese urban legends who lurk in the shadows - but are they harmless, purely evil, or simply misunderstood?
  • Stealth Action - Avoid evil spirits by tip-toeing away, sprinting away, taking cover in a bush, or by using items to distract them. But be careful – some evil spirits may surprise you with their considerable speed

description

Cute juxtaposed with the uncertainty brought by darkness: Nippon Ichi Software brings us Yomawari, the story of a young girl looking for her missing sister and dog in an eerie, nighttime town.

When the unnamed young girl loses her pet dog her older sister goes into the night in search of him. But when neither return home it is up to our young protagonist to venture into the once-familiar town, now shrouded by the darkness of night.

The darkness brought by the night is a crucial gameplay mechanic as it hides everything worth finding and exploring - including your sister and dog. With the use of her flashlight the young girl can uncover the secrets hidden by the night, and even enter parts of the town only open at night.

Your sister is not the only thing hidden by the night, there are strange 'terrors' lurking. On the dark streets, black figures stand still under the roadside street lights, or are they behind you? If you hit them with your light, you might just see their true colors, but do you really want to...?

Yomawari: Night Alone will be bundled with htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary.

Amazing.
I very much enjoy the contrasting style. the graphic style is cartoonish but the atmosphere of the game is very desolate. Sound effects and ambiance also help enhance the experience. Also, the American version comes with the fairy diaries on the same cart, as opposed to a download voucher. Now that is value!!!

Yomawari!
Yomawari is a melancholic horror rogue-like. It has an amazing, jaw-dropping, opening sequence that sets up the rest of the game. The game itself involves exploration, stealth and using wits to outsmart the towns spiritual inhabitants. Yet, some of these sequences can feel frustrating as there are few options other than repeated brute-force efforts to get through. At least the load times are short.... The artwork is great, the spirits eerie and creepy. It's good value too the game is bundled with htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary.
