Taking a refreshing break from his usual villain roles, the great Shih Chien (a.k.a. Shek Kin) plays a comedic ghost who befriends a young boy in this heartwarming tale. Famous for the hall of mirror battle scene with Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon, Shek Kin is a kindhearted spirit who brings the kid's separated parents, a fashion business woman (Josephine Siu) and a rich merchant (Ti Lung) back together. If you've never seen Shek Kin play goofy and wacky, then this movie's for you.

A Family friendly Shaw Brothers Film! Wonderful and Amusing!!!
This is a film about a young boy whose parents are separated and he tries to find happiness. He wanders off at a school nature trip and ends up in a haunted mansion where he is saved by ghost Jian Ren. The ghost becomes his friend, since the kids at school don't like him because he is rich and also because his parents have no time for him. His cowboy hat wearing father is too busy making money and going out with various women while his mother is a fashion designer, who is also extremely busy. The ghost helps the kid try to get his parents back together, the thing which would make him truly happy. The plot is universal and there are some decent special effects too. There is a fair share of fighting and some good stunts but they are mostly comedic to go with the rest of this light-hearted movie. That acting is absolutely great from all parties and the story itself has a lot of heart and emotion in it. I really loved this film and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun filled story about common problems in real life with a little bit of fantasy thrown in. As far as the dvd itself it is great packed with all kinds of extras like the original poster, movie stills, Biographies on the actors and director and also a bunch of Shaw Brothers trailers. I give this movie the highest rating of 5 out of 5 stars!
