features

  • Alan Wake delivers a deeply psychological and finely crafted plot that raises the bar for storytelling in video games. The riveting story of Alan Wake is propelled by a movie-like atmosphere, compelling situations, memorable characters, and real-time pacing. Remedy has a record of creating and developing games with unique cinematic presentation and exceptionally high production values
  • As Wake journeys deeper into the mystery of Bright Falls, the shadows close in around him. When darkness descends, light becomes his only ally as he fights his way to daybreak. This poses a severe problem for Alan Wake since his enemies seemingly gain strength from the shadows, and before long, light itself becomes his greatest ally. Players must skillfully combine their use of light with more conventional weapons to stand a chance
  • Set in the town of Bright Falls, the hyper-detailed environments of the Pacific Northwest play an important role, as even the change in daylight and weather will profoundly affect the characters and enemies in Alan Wake. The game's advanced rendering engine provides amazingly realistic environments that bring this world to detailed life—from the lush forest of evergreen trees to the quaint small-town buildings and streets. The world of Alan Wake is alive and real
  • The mission-based structure of Alan Wake creates an episodic narrative similar to a deeply structured dramatic television series, such as Twin Peaks and X-Files. As the episodes progress, gameplay evolves to introduce new elements and characters, escalating the level of threat and action in the game

Perfection!
Alan Wake is, like it say, a physchological action thriller! You are playing a terror movie, where you can interact with all that you're seeing. It's a great game! And the collector edition it's amazing! Soundtrack, making of, concept arts, and the great suprise, the Alan Wake Files! 5 stars to this, and 5 stars to Remedy for this game

what are you waiting for? Get It!
the game has been in works for almost 4 years and results are fantastic. Story, gameplay and all of what's in Alan Wake blends in very well done even though it's quite a short game. Thankfully, more DLC to lengthen the plot and the storyline just to understand what is really going on in Bright Falls.

Alan Wake [Limited Collector's Edition]
A masterpiece, genius project! I think AW is the best game for xb360. If you like atmospheric games with deep story, of you are the fan of Silent Hill series, you should buy it!

Action packed survival horror let down by an unnecessary collectathon!
Alan Wake is the long await release from Remedy; the visionaries behind the superb Max Payne titles. Unfortunately Alan Wake is no Max Payne. As most of you should know Alan Wake is a survival horror starring the titular hero; a horror writer with a severe case of writer's block who's wife disappears when they decide to take some vacation time at Bright Falls.

The action that unfolds over the next 10-12 hours is definitely fun. Combat which is usually poor in survival horror titles is (un)surprisingly solid here; light is your strongest weapon letting you burn away the darkness possessing your enemies before you can take them down with conventional firepower. Graphics are very nice and atmospheric as are the sound effects. Unfortunately though the game is held back by not one, not two, but three types of collectibles. Whilst collecting thermoses or finding ammo stores isn't all that compelling, missing out on manuscript pages actually means you miss out on certain story details making them almost essential. Given the dark and surprisingly large environments collecting them all can be quite a frustrating task especially in certain situations you have infinitely respawning enemies. The collect quests also slow down the pace of the game, which is a shame given the quality of the narrative. Still this isn't a deal breaker, but it's a disappointing design decision from Remedy; one that feels as if it was tacked on the extend the game's play time.
