description says:

A somewhat drawn out and mediocre supernatural cop drama, but bizarrely engaging and entertaining.
--- A number of bizarre murders are happening around Tokyo. All the victims appear to have had their neck broken by a 200pound gorilla, and their brains removed to be cooked in various meals. Sooner or later the cops, young pretty boy Manabu (Yosuke Eguchi) and old fashioned Tobitaka (Yoshio Harada), realize the murderer is not human but is a supernatural being that loves the taste of “bad thoughts”. Soon the being decides to pursue the younger cop Manabu, apparently they are more similar then one would realise. --- ANOTHER HEAVEN doesn’t make a lot of sense. In fact, when the killer’s true identity is revealed you with either laugh your pants off or thank god for the crazy Japanese imagination. However, even through all this ANOTHER HEAVEN is strangely amusing and entertaining. Whether that’s the pointless boob shots, the slightly out-of-place buckets of gore, the anime/manga atmosphere and storyline, or just its out there Japanese style, ANOTHER HEAVEN is an excellent popcorn film. At first you think you’re in for your usual cop drama catch-the-murderer flick, but it thankfully starts taking a turn for the more supernatural approach. ANOTHER HEAVEN manages to not take itself seriously while still being serious enough to keep the “campy” elements from dragging it into comedy, for example a Japanese man runs screaming down the street in his underwear with a broken jaw, if this were a Chinese Horror/Comedy movie this scene would be extremely funny, however in this film the scene makes you feel empathy for the character and whilst not completely serious, it’s humorous but not in a laugh-out-loud kinda way (ok that’s just confusing). Anyway, the visuals are slick and polished and help to detach the viewer from any sense of reality which would’ve dragged this film down. The Audio is good with some very appropriate Japanese-ish music that fit the different scenes fairly well especially in the over-the-top scenes. The acting is also suitably good (or bad, it fits well with the movie) with the very clichéd characters such as the older and old fashioned cop Tobitaka, but if you don’t like acting of this nature (mainly not very serious at all) you’d best forget this movie. ANOTHER HEAVEN is a very fun movie if your into this kind of thing, however if you really despise unintelligible films with gaping big plot holes and over the top storyline you’d best give this film a miss. If you don’t mind those cons you may just find ANOTHER HEAVEN to be extremely fun and entertaining. -Adam Kitano Other films of this nature: THE RETURNER, DR. LAMB, OSAKA WRESTLING RESTURAUNT, ONE MISSED CALL
