Assault Suit Leynos
Item Description
Strap on your nostaglia shoes, we're going for a ride! Dracue Software have remade the 1990 Mega Drive game Assault Suit Leynos (released as Target Earth in the US), a horizontal-scrolling shooter and platforming classic, for the PlayStation 4.
Besides updating the game for PS4 compatability Dracue has seriously improved the game' graphics, feel of the controls, and overall presentation.
The latest Assault Suit Leynos trailer briefly outlines the game's backstory for those unfamiliar:
It began when Earth’s outcasts returned in great warships from the darkest reaches of space.
They attacked the planet and all her galactic outposts with lightning fury.
The Earth Defense League fought for Earth’s survival with warriors outfitted in gigantic cyborg battle armor.
The battle began on Ganymede…
Assault Suit Leynos will also include Arcade Mode, Classic Mode (similar to the Mega Drive version), and Challenge Mode (featuring both the Arcade and Classic Mode stages).

By looking at the extras of the game there comes pictures, originals drawings and the manual of the original leynos in the megadrive, so maybe this game is a reboot or a remake.
Story: very difficult to understad, they are talking about a war in space, moving to other plannet, didnt get any of that.
Graphics: super detail, it looks like a handdrawed anime of mecha, reminds me of the maccros game do you remember love for ps1.
Music: the effects works, music works, but very forgetable. But the audio is in japanese and cannot be changed, in my opinion I like more this way.
Gameplay: you control a mecha in 2d style you can move and jump, you can change between 3 weapons, you have a shield to protect from projectiles, and a punch attack, you can shoot in any direction contra style, also you unlock new weapons, you can unequip and equip the weapons before any mision. Some missions has objetives to go to the end of the screen, other is to protect some small ship. One of the problems there are so many things happening in the screen so sometimes is difficult to know whats going on, sometimes you die and dont have any idea why, also sometimes the objective is not clear and if you fail you lose, even when you are still alive.
Conclusion: if you can see through the flaws, is a nice 2d shooter, this days this kind of games are death, so I think is nice addition to my collection, also it has very cheap price.
