Beat Takeshi wants to challenge you!

Takeshi no Chōsenjō
iOS, Android | Genre: Bizarre Adventure Game

Takeshi Kitano is a world-renowned auteur in every sense of the word, known for his massive contributions to media and the entertainment industry, famous for his deadpan approach and deep take on characters, whether behind or in front of the camera. In 2016, he has appeared in Ryu ga Gotoku 6 as a guest star, but not many people know that there's a 1986 game for Famicom completely dedicated to him: Takeshi no Chōsenjō.

Developed and published by Taito, this weird title is still placed first in Famitsu’s
kusoge chart and is often referred to as one of the worst video games of all time. Legend says that Taito’s designers met with Kitano in a bar to discuss his ideas for the game. But when they took down all the suggestions on a notepad, he drank sake without stop, and this fact could explain some of the oddest levels of the game.

Based on the ultra-pop[ular] Japanese game show with the same name aired between 1986 and 1990 on TBS, in this title the player is a heavy-hearted salaryman who start a journey across the world to find a hidden treasure on an island. To do this, he must quit his job, divorce his wife, professionally gamble, beat up strangers and travel. Due its bad, and strange gameplay mechanics, unbelievable difficulty, and eccentricity Takeshi no Chōsenjō became one of the most beloved (and rarest) games for Famicom.

From today on, old fans and newcomers can play it on their iOS, and Android devices. Indeed, Taito has re-released it keeping unchanged all those features that made it so unique. So be prepared to quit your job, divorcing, getting drunk (as Kitano was during the meeting with designers), gambling, avoiding touching buttons, and sing at karaoke.

Download it now to experience one of the strangest games of your life, and if you’ll be brave enough to reach the end, even you could be mocked by Kitano!
