PlayStation®4 | Genre: SF Survival Action Adventure game – City Shrouded in Shadow (Japanese: 巨影都市 Kyoei Toshi)

The Showa era (昭和時代), is the period of the Japanese history that identifies the years between 1926 and 1989, under Emperor Hirohito, the Japanese people have lived tragic events like the WWII, and very happy moments like the so-called “Japanese Miracle”, when the economy grew three times faster than other major nations without any help from foreign countries. But Showa era is important also for the pop-culture side, indeed this can be considered as the “golden age” of the Kaiju Eiga, and the Tokusatsu TV series.

Some of the most Japanese pop-icons has been created during period such as Godzilla, that in the first movies it was portrayed as an evil, destructive monster – a perfect metaphor to represent the power of the atomic bomb – and only with the release of “Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster” (1964), he became the heroic monster who battle against other titanic creatures to keep safe the Japan.
After the big success of Godzilla, Eiji Tsuburaya, the co-creator of the giant monster, founded his own company and created one of the most franchises in TV industry: Ultraman. During the years many other studios like as Daiei, Shochiku, Nikkatsu, and Toei has entered in these new genres of sci-fi creating characters like Gamera, Daimajin, Guilala Gappa, and Kamen Rider!

Inspired by all of these Japanese pop-culture icons, this year Bandai Namco and Granzella joined forces to develop the ultimate SF Survival Action Adventure game:  Kyoei Toshi for PlayStation 4!
When a mysterious thick fog shrouded Ichi City an incessant chain of disasters started to occur, in addition, some of the most popular giant heroes and monsters appeared. Ultraman, Godzilla, Gamera plus the Heisei era mechanical giants such as the EVA-01, and the AV-98 Ingram from Patlabor has started to fight! You will control Ken Misaki or Miharu Matsuhara you’ll move in a dark city illuminated only by neon lights trying to escape from there! Will this fog bring blessings or disaster?

Based on the well-acclaimed disaster survival game “Zettai Zetsumei Toshi” you’ll challenge various dangerous situations in the city, look out for traps, and help to other inhabitants to escape providing access to high points or moving wooden crates to a point where they allow for climbing. All in all, all depends on your reaction to adversity!
Survive the catastrophe with your wit, physical prowess and luck. Rescue other people trapped in the debris and run to find reinforcements or any sort of help.
