Halloween is already over. But The Inpatient will complete your November with horror. The Inpatient is a psychological horror video game that will be released both for PS4 and PlayStation VR. It serves as a prequel for Until Dawn. Supermassive Games, the game’s developer, made of 3D binaural audio to supplement the visuals of the game.

But before we jump into the game directly, you must be informed as early as now that it is not a prerequisite for you to have played Until Dawn just for you to understand this game. After all, The Inpatient is a standalone title with a brand new story as well as a cast of characters that you will come along the way.

The Inpatient takes place in Blackwood Sanatorium. It is the same universe, but 60 years earlier, that Until Dawn was set. You will play as the amnesiac protagonist who’s in the constant struggle of understanding the scary memories that are resurfacing. Plus, you will face the head doctor as he tries to “treat” you.

The game begins with you being in a face-to-face encounter with a mysterious Jefferson Bragg, the owner of the sanatarium. He assures you that he is there to help you. But will you believe him? This will mark the start of your disturbing journey.

In the duration of the game, you will meet plenty of staff and patients. All of them have their own personal agendas and motivations. It is, on the other hand, how you react that will determine the dramatic consequences of the storyline.
