Gust Corporation is still kicking since 1997 for its Atelier Series – a role-playing game, that was primarily released in Japan for PlayStation consoles. Now, Gust Corporation proudly introduces their third entry in the “Mysterious” sub-series of Atelier games, which is the upcoming Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting. The game’s announced released date is on the 21st of December that will be launching out on PS4, PS Vita and now also in Nintendo™ Switch Systems in Japan.

The story sets in a small, not very well known atelier located in Melveille, the capital of Adalett Kingdom. The protagonists of the game are 14 years old twin sisters named Lydie and Soeur Marlen. Lydie is the older twin, she is the gentle and quiet type. She also has a unique sense of art, while, Soeur – the younger twin, is the opposite of her sister. Soeur is tomboy genius and the energetic type. The twin sister is helping out their alchemist father operate their atelier and is striving to be the best atelier in their country. However, the twins knowledge to alchemy is still inadequate which makes their dream a little bit blurry.

As days passed by, the twins find themselves unsatisfied with their daily lives. Until one day, while they were synthesizing, they heard a strange voice from nowhere. Out of curiosity, the twins followed the sound of the voice and found out that it’s coming from the basement of their atelier. Their father told them to “never enter by any means” in that basement. But the twins were very inquisitive. They neglected their fathers warning. There, they discovered a painting, filled with mystery. A mysterious painting that will change their lives and make their dream grow closer to reality.  The painting they discovered lies another world within it. A mysterious world they can explore that significantly alters their fate.

The notion of the story is “the coexistence of the ordinary and the extraordinary.” It will represent both the story of a warm and comfortable everyday life and the story of an extraordinary journey of the protagonists in the world of paintings. The setting of the adventure is inside the paintings. Lydie and Soeur will visit plenty of unknown worlds of painting during their adventure. What lies beneath those paintings are precious rare materials that are not found in the real world, which can be used to enhance the twins alchemy skills.

Ambitioning to be the best atelier in the country,  the twins must help their atelier tops up in the “Atelier Rank System” a system which helps to determine the performance of each and every atelier in town. An evaluation of the atelier’s performance, coming from the capital also plays an important role in achieving the twins dream. Taking the role of the twin protagonists, you must help them lift their Atelier’s name in the top for them to obtain their goal. You can increase your Atelier Rank by taking on requests and challenges in town. In addition, increasing your evaluation helps, too. You can gain access to more painting worlds by increasing your Atelier Rank. Never stop exploring the colorful world of paintings and work on your rank all the way to the top!
