The setting of the game is on the continent of Vainqueur. The humans and the beastrides are the inhabitants of the continent. Once it was a peaceful land, however, it is now divided between Alistel and Granorg. These two powerful kingdoms are in a war for the remaining land. Alistel believes Granorg is responsible for the spread Sand Plague. Now, the continent is suffering from “desertification.”

Stocke, the main character of the game, is sent by his superior, Heiss, on a mission. However, the mission fails as Stocke nearly dies during the battle. But with the White Chronicles that Heiss gives him, he must save his friends by traveling back to time. The guardians of the Chronicle informs him to use the power to save the world from danger. While doing his heroic deeds, someone possesses the Black Chronicle, the twin of the White Chronicle. It tries to interfere his doings along.
