We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial in the city of Wellington Wells. In this alternative 1960s England, conformity is key. You’ll have to fight or blend in with the drug-addled inhabitants, most of whom don’t take kindly to people who won’t abide by their not-so-normal rules.

We Happy Few positions itself as a psychedelic horror survival game which was set in England around 1960’s. You’re all trapped in a dystopian version of the U.K. This place is inhabited by people who are addicted to a drug called “Joy.”This drug induces bliss to anyone who takes it. It is your duty to help these people to see the world in reality by moderating their drug intake.

The reason behind why these people took the hallucinogenic drug is for them to forget the war which made their city on the verge of collapse. More so, it is also their way of being constantly happy despite the fact that it is also the reason why they’re easily controlled and face the absence of their morals.

As the player, you will take the role of Arthur who is also trapped in this dystopian place. You will be called as the “Downer” as you will go against the grain after you chose of not taking the drug. It will feature a first-person perspective. Hence, expect rogue-like elements, role-playing, and survival plots. More so, a strong narrative and gameplay will be present in “We Happy Few.”

You will discover plenty of things in We Happy Few. Much so as you will discover its dark history based on the intertwined narratives of the three quietly rebellious citizens of Wellington Wells. These three characters have their own weaknesses and strengths. They have quite a story to tell. A story of their past, present, and their future.
