Fortnite’s Playground Mode

Fortnite made history when it reached a record-breaking $318 million revenue as of May. It took over other games in the gaming history captivating gamers, and even curious non-gamers, since 2017. And have we even mentioned that this game is free to play?

You might be wondering how on earth a free-to-play game can even garner such a revenue? It only means while the gaming experience needs not to be bought. However, the game also offers in-game purchases such as tools, characters, outfits, and even dance moves. And this is where the profit comes in.

Just check the chart below from SuperData Research via Recode on how Fornite faired well amongst the other games out there.

The Sunshine Of Playground Mode

With its popularity, it is just no wonder why Epic Games banked on to offer something more to its fans. And such excitement was even furthered with the release of the long-awaited Playground Mode for Fortnite: Battle Royale.

The Playground Mode allows players to gang up with up to three friends. Players are given one hour for a free play. It gives gamers the avenue to practice their skills in building and shooting as they wish. Competition is quite stiff. So taking down your buddies is no excuse. No need to worry, though, since respawning after death is expected to allow you to enjoy the game even further.

While respawning is something that you’ll look forward to, you must also be aware that there is an exception to the rule. Respawning is not possible if you are killed by the Storm. You’ll find Storm barging in at the 55-minute mark. Remember, you only have an hour to play the game.

The Dawn Of Playground Mode

But just like every good thing, the Playground Mode come to an end–well at least for the meantime. Or will it be for good?

As of June 28, Epic Games halted the Playground mode by posting an announcement on Reddit.

Yesterday we launched the Playground LTM. So many of you rushed in to create and play that our matchmaking service fell over. We’ve since separated the Playground matchmaker from the one that affects the default modes and made large improvements to assist with the number of players. We plan to push these changes and improvements live later today to bring the Playground LTM back online.
