The Eastern equivalent to the West’s E3 is nearly coming. And yes, it’s Tokyo Game Show 2018‘s time to hit the spotlight! Japan’s biggest video game conference is about to unfold. And you guys already know what comes with big gaming conventions: press conferences, a bunch of announcements, and a whole lot of surprises from the biggest names in the gaming industry!

But before we proceed to the most awaited games in this event, let us check out first the basic details for the events that will serve as your guide. This list includes information like when will it be held, the schedule, how to watch TGS 2018, and more.


What is Tokyo Game Show?

Tokyo Game Show is the largest gaming event in the East. It is an annual video game expo held in every September. This event highlights both the Japanese and international game developers and publishers. Tokyo Game Show is exclusive to the media for the first two days, while the last two days will be opened to the public.

The big event is welcome for both established and emerging game developers to promote their new releases and announce upcoming innovations.

Tokyo Game show will be a big room for various entertainments such as demo areas, merchandise booths, and a cosplay area as well. While video games are the star of the night in this event, games for PC and mobile devices are also involved in this event.

Event Schedule – Tokyo Game Show 2018

Tokyo Game Show will start on September 20 and will run until September 23. The four-day event will be divided into two schedules. The first 2 days will be an exclusive event for the media only while the final two days will be open to the public. The game developers, exhibitors, will be present on all four days of the Tokyo Game Show.

BUSINESS DAY
September 20 (Thursday) – September 21 (Friday) From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
* Admission is limited to the press and trade visitors.

PUBLIC DAY
September 22 (Saturday) – September 23 (Sunday) From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
* The doors are scheduled to open at 9:30 AM.

Venue – Tokyo Game Show 2018

The Tokyo Game Show will be held in the same Japanese convention center known as Makuhari Messe located in Chiba, Japan. It will take place in Makuhari Messe Hall 1-11, Event Hall, International Conference Halls. Makuhari Messe serves as the event’s venue since the event was born.

How Many Exhibitors Can We Expect to See at Tokyo Game Show 2018?

There will be a total of 366 exhibitors that will make up the big event of this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Biggest names in the industry will be present in the event such as Bandai Namco, Capcom, Koei Tecmo, Sony, Square Enix, and more. However, instead of a traditional conference stream like what we see from E3, they will rather have various events and streams schedule throughout the entire four-day event.

Where to Watch TGS 2018?

Bandai Namco already locked the September 20 schedule for their “Bandai Namco Entertainment Tokyo Game Show 2018 Opening Stage” stream. Viewers can watch it either on YouTube or NicoNico Douga at 10:15 PM EST and end at 11:00 PM EST.

In addition, the company will also have a “Special Stage” event which will run from 12:00 PM EST to 12:45 PM EST. However, this event does not have an associated stream schedule with it. If you want to know the full schedule of Bandai Namco, you can check out their official site here.

Another most awaited highlight of TGS 2018 is the special “Kingdom Hearts 3 Tokyo Game Show 2018 Stage” event. All new announcements for the upcoming game will be revealed in this event. What Games to Expect in TGS 2018?

First is Dragon Ball FighterZ. Dragon Ball FighterZ is one of Bandai Namco’s games which is set to receive a brand-new trailer during the big event. Well, let’s see if that is the time to see a new character reveal trailer. Furthermore, joining Bandai Namco’s lineup are Soul Calibur VI, Jump Force and Tekken 7.
