Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Launch Sales Beat Franchise Records for Current-Gen Consoles

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the latest installment in the expanding series of Assassin’s Creed that began in 2007, reportedly holds a new milestone achieved by the game in a press release yesterday by Ubisoft. The developer/publisher is pleased to announce that Odyssey had the best launch week performance in the franchise for the current gaming generation on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
This means that Odyssey’s launch sales were better than Assasin’s Creed Origins, Syndicate, and Unity.
In addition, Ubisoft credits high review scores and positive player feedback for the mighty sales of the game. Although no concrete numbers were given, we do remember that Assassin’s Creed Origins sold twice as fast as Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in a 10-day period after its release.
Here’s what Ubisoft said in the press release:
“We are incredibly proud of what the team accomplished with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and humbled by the amazing reception from critics and players,” said Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Geoffroy Sardin in a press release. “Based on the quality of the game and the very encouraging reactions from players, we expect Odyssey to be one of the top performing Assassin’s Creed games of all-time. The launch is just the start of this epic journey. We have robust content plans for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that will keep players engaged and exploring the game’s beautiful and compelling world for a long time to come.”
Also, according to Ubisoft Sales and Marketing Senior Vice President Geoffroy Sardin, the company holds future content outlined for the game, guaranteeing that players will keep on playing the game.
