The online home for exclusive Nintendo news broadcast is back as Nintendo Direct continues to pour the feels of the Nintendo enthusiasts, especially for the upcoming games. This time, the February 27th, 2019 Nintendo Direct mainly focused on the Pokémon franchise.

As we all know, Pokémon (ポケモン) or Pocket Monsters in Japan has garnered huge popularity throughout the years. Most of the 90s kids love these cute monsters especially the most popular Pokémon of all like Pikachu as this electric rodent-like creature is always on Ash’s side. With Pokémon, it has entertained fans of all ages from kids to adults which makes this franchise lives on its longevity up to this day.

Pokémon fans, this is your year as a new anime with the Pokémon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution and Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu in the upcoming live-action film. Now, Nintendo surprises us on this latest Pokémon Direct. So, are you ready to witness some of the revelations during the latest Nintendo Direct? Well, folks here we go!


Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield Coming to the Nintendo Switch




After the release of Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu last November 2018, Nintendo has finally announced the next generation of Pokémon games with the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield. These two games are coming this Late 2019.

These two upcoming games will feature a more detailed 3D art style than to the previous Pokémon games which are the Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee. Plus, a new setting appears which is called Galar. This new region is heavily inspired by the UK/United Kingdom. The Galar region depicts in Victorian architecture. Even a structure resembles the iconic UK’s mark, Big Ben. With this, this region is home of mysterious stones and carvings where you can find a legendary Pokémon. You can check out the map below and how the Pokémon Company describes this new region.

Galar is an expansive region with diverse environments — an idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forest, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and the pokémon who live there work together closely to develop the industries in the region. Fans will have the opportunity to visit various gyms in the Galar region in their quest to become champion.

Of course, three new Pokémon starters will welcome go as you buy the game sometime this year. Thanks to Nintendo, they are the stars of the Direct. These three starters hold the usual elemental types from the prior games, the Grass-type chimp Grookey, Fire-type rabbit Scorbunny, and Water-type lizard Sobble. However, there’s no information on their ultimate evolutions. Maybe we will get to see it sometime.

Like any Pokémon games, the Sword and the Shield will also introduce the new eighth generation of Pokémon monsters to collect, trade and battle. Plus, along with the new Pokémon monsters, the returning favorites are also in the game such as Pikachu to the Grubbin from Sun and Moon.
